About West Overlook Campground

The West Overlook Campground is located within the Dam Complex at the Coralville Lake Project. The Coralville Lake Project is a multiple use project providing primary benefits in flood control and low flow augmentation, and secondary benefits in recreation, fish and wildlife management and forest management. Coralville Lake provides many recreational opportunities, including boating, camping, hiking, mountain biking, lake and river fishing, swimming, water skiing, picnicking and hunting.

Beautiful campground located perfectly for access to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City! Clean, well spaced and most campsite amenities other than sewer.

Staff are volunteers so a big shot out to them for keeping a wonderful campsite!

The location is great - beautiful and quiet. Staff and volunteer hosts were also great.

We stayed during some really hot weather and our 30A pedestal was unable to deliver enough voltage to run our A/C, so we had to move to another spot.

The shower water pressure is very low, difficult to wash and rinse hair, and the shower water temperature is just barely warm enough, not hot.

This was our first time camping down in this area of the campground and has become our favorite spot! Great site in a beautiful area! Other sites around it are concrete while this is still gravel…not a deal breaker though. Hope they make it concrete during the off season! Will definitely reserve this site again! So much to do here including great trails and plenty of play areas for kids!

We booked late with only a couple of places left but the site was comfortable (small but fit us well), quiet, we could see the lake. Although we mostly stayed to sleep we determined to come back as the facilities and beach looked great--amazing sunrise!
