About West Overlook Campground

The West Overlook Campground is located within the Dam Complex at the Coralville Lake Project. The Coralville Lake Project is a multiple use project providing primary benefits in flood control and low flow augmentation, and secondary benefits in recreation, fish and wildlife management and forest management. Coralville Lake provides many recreational opportunities, including boating, camping, hiking, mountain biking, lake and river fishing, swimming, water skiing, picnicking and hunting.

The bathrooms were very clean. Our campsite was perfect, the grass had been cut and no one near us made any noise or disturbance.

The campground was not very well kept.. the grass was extremely weedy and not mowed.. the firepit had paper plates, water bottles and beer cans in it.. the water was a yellowish brownish color out of the hydrant.. we have stayed at several Army Corps campgrounds and have always been very impressed.. west overlook is not impressive at all

The volunteers have no idea what they are doing and do not communicate with each other. And the park rangers pick on the poor people. If you don't have a camper and only a tent, you get picked on by the rangers and volunteers.

Very nice campsite for an excellent price! Army COE campgrounds do not disappoint. Campsite was clean, nice gravel driveway and area around the picnic table and firepit. Site 54 has a great view of the lake and sunset. Shower house was nice and clean. I appreciated the individual rooms with deadbolt locks. Shower water temp was just right!

A bunch of drunks on the weekends who like to play loud music Quiet time is not enforced. This was two separate groups on two separate nights so this must be a common occurrence at this campground.

I had a nice, relaxing time at West Ovetlook. The shower house up near W28 is really very nice, and even though it was ridiculously hot, I got in a couple of walks. I'll plan to be there again....I hope!
