Acorn Valley is a well-maintained, peaceful campground with clean facilities, friendly staff, and spacious sites, making it an excellent choice for families and those seeking a quiet getaway. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the beautiful natural surroundings, with plenty of room for activities. While some sites may require leveling and noise from nearby activities can be an issue, overall, guests have had enjoyable experiences and are eager to return.

great location, away from the big campground with all the boaters. Grounds are well maintained and sites are level and large.

Stayed in the tent section with no hookups. Loved it. Even though it was a weekend, there weren't a lot of campers and people were spread out. It was very quiet with easy access to downtown. Shower house was clean. Electric outlet was pretty high up in the sink area. Had to stretch to reach it. Shower is push button with no temperature control but nice and warm without being too hot. There is a separate section with a playground and a separate section with electric hookups.

Great Campground! We were only going to stay a couple of days and ended up staying for 8 days. Restrooms and showers were immaculate. Everything was very accessible.

It would be nice to have a tent outlet for some light/fan/phone charger

We enjoy tent camping and have always enjoyed our stays at Acorn Valley.
I like the fact that there is dedicated parking separate from the campsites.
This adds to camper safety.
We love the proximity to bike trails throughout the Des Moines metro area and suburbs.
The camp hosts are always very friendly and helpful.
They need to repair the water fountain at the main shower house as it was out of order.

We had a lovely shady spot. It was close to Des Moines for a bicycle repair we needed. We explored the lake and other campgrounds for a future trip.
