Island View is absolutely beautiful campground. Generally, very peaceful and a very good place to relax. The only problem I have is there is absolutely nothing to do there unless your own a boat. Still a good place to camp.

We love coming to Island view and have spent alot of time there this summer. The complaints that I have are that the cleaners are not doing a good job in the shower houses. I have watched their short visits and never saw them power wash anything. The new shower on the west holds water on the floor and makes it impossible to stay dry while getting dressed. It also needs some kind of benches for dressing. On the first dump station one of the hoses needs replaced because it has a hole that causes water to spray all over. Lastly, the east side badly needs mowed, before the growth hindered the view of the beautiful lake. I also want to brag up the 3 ladies that check us in . We have enjoyed knowing them and have had many nice conversations with them. Everyone loves the ideas of Christmas in July and halloween in September. These kinds of activities make the campground a special place to be.

Only complaint would be that the camper prior to out visit must have left 100 cigarette butts in and around the camfire ring. I picked them up but, YUCK

Great site and campground. Not a fan of all the golf carts as some folks can be rude and not watch out for others.

Very easy to reserve. Excellent location. Everyone had a good time. I did have to bring my hose and scrub brush to try to wash all the bird poop off of the floor area in the shelter so that we could move the tables so everyone would have a place to sit. I realize that it had rained but it would have looked so nice had the grass been mowed. Definately consider renting again.

Love camping at Island view Campground Lake Rathbun, Iowa. Plenty of distance between camping sites. Enjoy the swimming beach. Would recommend this to everyone.

  • 14 Day Policy on Rathbun Lake: Campers are only allowed to camp at the same camping loop a maximum of 14 nights within a 30 night period. After the 14th night, they will be required to move (physically move the camping unit) to a different camping loop, which can be in the same campground.
  • Swimming beach is approximately 1 mile from the campground
  • Please register/ pay for campsite prior to set up. Park Attendant will check you in on your campsite during their morning or evening rounds.
  • If late, you must contact this park within 24 hours after your original check-in time or you will be considered a 'no show' resulting in the cancelation of your reservation.

  • Purchase firewood from a local source.
  • If you must bring your own firewood, don't leave any firewood behind at your campsite.
