Policies & Rules

General

  • Camping is allowed beginning March 1st, weather and conditions permitting, to December 1st.
  • The park and campground is closed to non-campers between 11pm and 6am.
  • All reservations are required to be made on the online reservation website or by calling City Hall at (319)934-3340 prior to setting up camp. Registration is required prior to setting up camp to prevent occupying a reserved site.
  • Campsites are reservable if indicated as available on the campground’s online registration website.
  • You must be a minimum of 18 years of age to register for a campsite or to reserve a facility. All minor campers must be accompanied by at least 1 adult per campsite.
  • Camping is permitted only in designated areas.
  • Maximum continuous reservation limit is 14 days, unless on a designated monthly site. Your camping unit must physically vacate the camping site after 2 weeks.
  • Campground pavilions and picnic shelters are first come, first served. No reservations are required.
  • No camping unit shall be left unoccupied for more than 5 days.
  • Each camper or tent must be registered before setting up the campsite.
  • No more than one camping unit per site. A camping unit is defined as a travel trailer, pop-up, fifth wheel, motorhome, etc. In addition to a camping unit, one tent is allowed per site.
  • No more than 4 tents per site.
  • Place/park your camping unit respectfully. Do not block other campers in and allow access to other campsites. The City has the right to require any camping unit to be moved if access is not deemed satisfactory.
  • If a campsite is reserved for 5 days or more, the camper is responsible to keep the lawn within the reserved campsite maintained per city ordinance.
  • No wading, swimming pools, or water features are allowed in the campground.
  • No litter or any kind, including cigarette butts shall be left at the campsite upon leaving the site.
  • No ropes, cables, chains, or lines can be affixed to trees. No clotheslines permitted. Do not hang clotheslines from trees.
  • Keep hot pans and grease oA of the grass. No hot grills, hot pans, pie irons to be placed on the picnic tables.
  • No permanent accessory structures, political flags or signs, oAensive signage, or full sized appliances are allowed.
  • Operation of an UTV/ATV must meet State Law to operate on the roadways.
  • Leaving boats unattended and attached to any area along the river’s bank is prohibited
  • Parents must accompany small children when using the shower house/restroom facility.
  • The Veterans Memorial Campground and the City of Quasqueton are not responsible for personal items that are lost or stolen. Please make sure you have secured your personal belongings.
  • Tank water shall be disposed of in designated areas only. Disposal on open ground is prohibited.
  • Destructive acts are prohibited, including any person to destroy, injure, deface, or remove any plant life, trees, buildings, or other natural material property. Tree cutting is strictly prohibited. 
  • Campground does not allow commercial selling or solicitation within the campground. Solicitation or peddling within the city limits requires a permit. Peddling, hawking, soliciting, or advertising of a commercial enterprise is strictly prohibited. 
  • Iowa fishing license required if and when fishing. Fishing shall be in accordance with the regulations of the Iowa DNR. 
  • Horses are not allowed in the campground. 
  • Call 911 for any emergency. Provide the emergency personnel with the campground’s address of 204 River Dr N, Quasqueton, Iowa. Non-emergency contact is the Buchanan County Sherieff’s office.
  • No dishwashing will be allowed at general use hydrants, or in the shower house.
  • In case of severe weather or storm warnings, go to the campground shower house. 
  • Water and shower house may not be available until the weather allows. Weather dependent, water will be turned oA November 1st in order to winterize the campsites and shower house. 
  • Rental Contract for Quasqueton City Hall
  • The person authorizing this contract agrees to accept responsibility for using the City Hall Building, located at 113 N Water St, Quasqueton, Iowa, at the date and time stated herein.
  • The City is not responsible for things brought into or left in the City Hall building.
  • The renter agrees to have the facility cleaned prior (condition prior to arrival) to leaving the premise.

Deposit

  • Full payment is required at the time of the reservation.
  • Any campsites that are occupied in any form will be charged a reservation fee.
  • If the City has to collect registration fees, an additional $5.00 fee will required for your reservation.
  • In the event the flood stage in Independence, Iowa reaches 11.5 feet, the City will advise all campers to evacuate. Campers will have 24 hours to remove campers and all belongings. Any campers or belongings not moved will be towed away at the owner’s expense.
  • No refunds will be issued once the reservation is made, or the date of reservation has began.
  • No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather, flooding, or change of plans. Camping is an outdoor experience. Therefore, we do not give refunds due to the discomforts of nature. Please be aware of the risk of the campground flooding during certain times of the year and understand that it is mandatory for our guests’ safety to require campers to vacate the campground once river levels reach a specific flood stage, regardless of reservations in place. Understand we cannot be held responsible for weather, illness, work schedule, or other situations aAecting our guests and therefore enforce our cancellation policy regardless of circumstances.
  • Cancellations made 3 to 10 days prior to the scheduled arrival date are subject to a penalty equal to 50% of the reservation fee. Reservations cancelled within 3 days prior to the scheduled arrival date are non-refundable. Refunds do not include payment processing fees.
  • All campers must maintain a clean and orderly campsite and firepit area. Any cleanup performed by the City will be charged to the camper last occupying the campsite.
  • Campers are allowed only one rug per site and shall not exceed 18 square feet in size. All rugs must be pulled up after 3 days to try and maintain the growth of the grass.
  • The City is responsible for mowing occupied sites reserved 4 days or less; however all mowing and trimming will be completed 20 feet (20') away from all camping units and vehicles.
  • Violation of any regulation by any member of a camping party is cause for revocation of the camping privilege and the entire camping party may be required to leave the area. Staff reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. Staff reserves the right to evict anyone for behavior detrimental to the campground and its visitors. Any violation or anyone not complying with these rules can result in the denial of entrance and use of privileges as well as will result in removal from the campground at the camper’s expense, with no refund.
  • There is a $100 deposit and $30.00 rental fee for the City Hall Building. The City Clerk will hold the building for your event marked on the calendar the day of the event.
  • The $100 deposit will be refundable if there are no damages to the building and the building is in the condition as it was prior to the rental reservation.
  • The $30.00 rental fee must be paid to City Hall prior to the day of the reservation.

Check-out

  • Check in time 3 pm and Check out time 1pm. Check out time for each campsite is at 1pm on the date of departure. You may stay longer to enjoy our facilities, but you must vacate the campsite.

Pets

  • No animals, camping equipment or other items shall be tied to trees or shrubs. Camping hammocks are allowed only with tree safe straps.
  • All domesticated animals must always be on a leash. Leash is not to exceed six feet. No electronic/shock collars to be used as leashes. No pet fences/kennels allowed. No electronic fences, invisible/underground fences allowed.
  • Pets shall never be left unattended. Do not walk your pet on any campsite besides your own. Do not let pets dig holes in the ground.
  • Each camper is responsible for cleaning up and disposing of your pet’s waste.
  • Excessive barking and consistently noisy pets will not be allowed to remain at the campground and will be asked to leave.
  • Only one (1) verbal warning for pet nuisances will be given. The latter will require pets to be removed from the campground.
  • No domesticated animals are allowed in the shower house. 

Safety

  • TO BE USED FOR CAMPFIRES ONLY. No garbage, glass, aluminum or metal cans permitted in the fire rings. The burning of garbage or construction materials is prohibited.
  • ABSOLUTELY DO NOT move the fire rings from their locations.
  • Campfires are allowed only in the metal fire rings or grills provided.
  • Fires must be contained within the fire rings and must be attended. Fires must be put out before leaving the site.
  • Firewood should be neatly stacked. Firewood can be collected in the campground. The tree or branches must be dead and lying on the ground and only hand saws or axes can be used. Collection of firewood should be contained to your own reserved campsite or public areas within the campground.
  • Help us keep the campground clean by placing all garbage in the provided dumpster next to the showerhouse. 
  • All garbage must be placed in the dumpster or taken home with you. Do not litter or transport trash into the park for dumping.
  • Keg beer is not allowed within the campground. Restricted to reserved shelters. 
  • Public intoxication is prohibited. All drinking of alcoholic beverages must be done in the privacy of your site.
  • Illegal activity is strictly prohibited. Such activity shall be grounds for immediate removal from the campground and revocation of privileges.
  • Possession and use of firearms, explosives, weapons and fireworks are prohibited. 

Parking

  • Only two vehicles per campsite are allowed. Extra vehicles including trailers and visitors must park in the parking area near the shower house.
  • Vehicles assigned to your site must not be parked on the roadways in the campground.
  • Please drive carefully and watch for children and pedestrians.  Motorized vehicles must stay on the roadways.
  • Operators of motorized vehicles must have a valid driver's license.
  • Speed limit is 10mph as posted, in ALL locations.
  • A trailer is considered a vehicle.
  • Washing of campers and vehicles using campground facilities is strictly prohibited. 
  • No storage of any type of trailer or vehicle is allowed in the designated parking area from more than 5 days.

Noise

  • Children should be at their campsite half an hour after dusk or accompanied by an adult. Children are not allowed outside after their parents have done into their camper for the night (not ever around the fire ring).
  • The playground closes half hour after dusk.
  • Quiet time is from 11pm to 7am.
  • All campers and visitors shall maintain quiet and must avoid excessive noise. “Excessive Noise” means any loud, confused or senseless shouting or outcry; a sound lacking in agreeable musical quality or which is noticeably unpleasant. Noise which can be heard at a distance of two camp sites away shall be deemed unreasonable.
  • Renter is responsible to get in contact with City Hall prior to the date of the event to obtain a key to enter the premise. The City will not be held responsible for the inability to enter the premises if the key is not obtained prior to the event. Renter is advised City Hall is open on Thursday 8am to 4pm. Outside of those office hours, renters must make prior arrangements to pick up the key. Evenings and weekends may be unavailable for pick up and the City will not be held responsible for a missed event or unavailable City Hall building rental due to the lack of prior arrangements.

Guests

  • Please be aware that sole responsibility for the actions, safety and supervision of your children and their guests belongs to the responsible adult of the child.
  • All non-registered visitors must be out of the campground by 11pm.
  • Campers and visitors may swim at their own risk. No lifeguard is on duty. 
  • Campers and visitors are to stay on city property at all times and respect adjacent private property. 
  • Welcome to Veterans Memorial Campground. We invite you to explore and enjoy this beautiful area. We take pride in visitor safety and park beautification. For our park and campground to remain a safe and enjoyable place, we ask that you follow these rules and regulations. Thank you!
  • All campers, guests, and visitors assume any and all risks of injury and damage to their person or property arising from and out of their entrance upon and/or use of the Veterans Memorial Campground. The City of Quasqueton is not responsible for any accidents or damage to persons or property.
  • The renter agrees to be responsible for all damage to the building that takes place while they or their guests are occupying the premises. In addition, the renter agrees to indemnify and hold the City harmless from any liability arising from the conduct of the renter and/or any invites guests in connection with the use of this property. The user agrees to report to the city office any damage to the equipment or facility as soon as possible. Any damage will be assessed by the City.
  • The rent is responsible for all guests at the event.

Smoking

  • Smoking is not allowed in any campground building.
  • Tobacco usage is prohibited except at individual campsites in accordance with the Iowa Smokefree Air Act.
