Well I was unhappy to see how they let their nice cement block bathroom/shower house go down hill. I reported in June when we were there that one bathroom you couldn’t use at all, the lights wouldn’t come on, and our trip there in July they still hadn’t fixed the lights. Also in another one of the bathrooms you couldn’t shut off the shower, it ran all the time, hot water, it was so steamy in there you couldn’t use the toilet. And a third bathroom the door remained locked all the time. So that reduced a 6 bathroom/shower down to 3. Ppl were having to wait.

Wonderful camping.
The only downside was knowing what sites were going to be available with a shorter lead time. Several of the sites we would have preferred were not available until a few days ahead of time. On your site, they just said "unavailable." I would suggest labeling those with "Walk-up only" or "reservable 7 days in advance."

Richie Cove and the Council Grove Lake are great. But site 01 is really unlevel! It does state that in the description, but I had no idea it was so bad! It might be 6" off!

Unable to level camper because of pads being uneven. Wasp and snakes. Had to move because of flooding, the corp of engineers and park rangers were absolutely wonderful, treated us very well.

The 6 stall shower house/bathroom you could only use 4 of those. One stall the door has been locked on it now for 2 summers, so apparently there’s a problem and instead of fixing it the just keep the door lock. One stall the door open but it’s dark the light doesn’t come on so you can’t use it. The other 4 need light bulbs. All the stalls had only 1 bulb each working therefore making it hard to see, when there’s several bulbs over the shower side and toilet side. I reported this issue to the Corp of Engineers when we got there, but 5 days later when we left, nothing had been done about the issues.

We had a great time camping, fishing and kayaking this area. Our campsite was clean and shady with great views of the water. Even though we were next to the boat ramp, it was quiet and relaxing. The shower facilities were nice and clean. We love Council Grove, so it’s nice to just be a few minutes from town to go to dinner or get some firewood for camp fires.
