What Guests Are Saying
Cottonwood Point is praised for its beautiful, clean campsites and scenic views by the lake, making it a great spot for water sports and relaxation. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, well-maintained facilities, and friendly atmosphere, with some returning frequently for the calming experience. However, concerns about infrequent mowing, maintenance issues, and limited restroom access have been noted, suggesting areas for improvement.

Nice spot with a long easy entrance from the main road. Nice sized lot, with a small spot to access the water. Water level outside this spot is only a couple feet deep so boat access would be limited to canoes, kayaks, Jon boats etc. There’s decent shade most of the day, I’d say 4pm till sundown you are hidden behind some trees. There was a lot of poison ivy all over the shoreline and under a lot of the trees so be cautious if you have kids, dogs or allergic to it. There is a bathhouse within walking distance but I would rather drive to the nice shower houses in the full hookup side which is just down the road.

I really was disappointed about how poorly the grounds were maintained over Mother's Day weekend. The grass was at least 12" high in some spots. There was trash and debris among the campsites we collectively had reserved as a group

Pretty nice campsite, you do share a driveway with your neighbor so be mindful of that when reserving this spot. The site is also not very level from side to side and front to back so make sure and have plenty of cribbing to make the camper level, I would say 4-5 inches side to side. Otherwise it’s a nice spot with decent shade most of the day. Waterfront access to a rocky shoreline. Most of these sites have quite a bit of poison ivy along the lake and under the trees so keep that in mind.

very large sites. Good place to walk dogs. Good view of lake. Fishing can be good at times even from bank. People at campground very friendly.

Grass needed mowing badly. Bathrooms were not cleaned or restocked with paper. Waste cans at trash drop off site were all overflowing.
Map of facilities was out of date because the shower house we thought was close to our campsite was padlocked and not it use. The newer small shower bldgs were further away. The shower small bldg that was closest to us had one door that seemed to be permanently locked and the other door wouldn't lock at all. If there was a camp host/volunteer we never saw them or noticed their presence anywhere.

Nice lakeside site. Love the concrete floored, covered picnic table area.
Gas, food and shops in nearby Marion.

Cottonwood Point is an excellent campground- one of our two favorite campgrounds. I would give it 5 stars if sites 60 and 61 had water hookups.

Excellent as always! This location never disappoints! The space between campers is undeniably the best of the best! Couldn't ask for more space in a public location. Trees everywhere!
