Great place to camp. Many FHU sites, all right on the water or at least with a close view. Large well spaced sites that are fairly level. Utilities are excellent with 50/30/20 amp and water as well as sewer in the sites numbered 95 and higher. Friendly camp hosts. Grounds were well maintained on our visit. Shower houses are new and nice. Hillsboro and Marion are nearby with hardware stores, grocery, Sonic Drive In, Pizza Hut, etc. The new area with FHU has less shade than the older area, but there are some trees in most every site. Verizon signal good, and OTA TV offers many channels.

Fantastic bike riding from Cottonwood. We thought we would be able to kayak from here by looking at the map, but the banks are too steep, and the creek/river was too low at the time we were there.

Helpful and pleasant staff member to check you in. Spacious park with water views. Watched heron fly over the reservoir almst every morning. About a half hour or so from Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. Otherwise, just a good spot to stop and stay as you make your way across Kansas.

The fire pits and BBQ stands were full of ashes. It has been my experience that all of my past CoE stays, they have been emptied by Camp Hosts. I had to empty my BBQ stand before I could use it. They appeared to unused for a while as there was an abundance of spider webs.

The campground was clean and well maintained. However, the postings on the bulletin board at the restroom building were old and so faded you could not read them. The greeters were very helpful and recommended an excellent campsite for us along the edge of the lake.

Like so many ACE campgrounds this one was well equipped. The sites were large and mostly level with gravel pads. Water access was available at many of the sites and the grounds had large mature trees that provided lots of shade. We would stay here again for sure.
