Cottonwood Point is praised for its beautiful, clean campsites and scenic views by the lake, making it a great spot for water sports and relaxation. Many visitors appreciate the spacious sites, well-maintained facilities, and friendly atmosphere, with some returning frequently for the calming experience. However, concerns about infrequent mowing, maintenance issues, and limited restroom access have been noted, suggesting areas for improvement.

Need more park ranger presence- especially on big weekends like Labor Day.
Park needs the following:
1) Enforced rules- dogs on leashes, cars/boats off grass areas, Off road devices told to stay home,
2) general things to fix - fences around trash areas fixed, campsite numbers replaced or fixed, site #162 and #164 drive needs widened, fix bath/shower house across from group site #1, make the water visible in the new area - campsites in the 150s to 130s
Thankful for:
1) Mowed grass especially in the larger areas - makes the whole park more appealing and attractive (don’t let it get out of control please)
2) restroom/ shower crews keep things clean - a BIG THANK You.
3) the volunteers they do have are appreciated

We liked the size of the camping Lots so that there was some separation between us and our neighbors rather than feeling like we're on top of each other. Also even over a holiday weekend it was not particularly noisy and we appreciated that and thirdly it was nice to camp in a campground where there wasn't a street light in every corner and to actually see the stars rightly.

Lights in the women's bath house extremely lacking. I contacted the park office but nothing was done.

Sure, wish the toilet facilities were available, which they weren’t. They were all locked up other than that. Had a very good time.

Overall a nice campground. The showerhouse in our loop was closed and we could only find one showerhouse open which was very clean but only one of the lights in one of the toilet stalls was working so you had to either bring your own light or take a shower in the dark.
I wished they had more of the showerhouses open. The weekend we were there quite a few of the campsites in our loop were occupied.

Great site. A decent length away from any neighbors and close to the boat ramp and not too far from the swim area or bathrooms. The fire ring is weirdly far away from the picnic table and campsite. But otherwise I'd stay here again, no problem.

We enjoyed a very nice, quiet, comfortable time at Cottonwood Point and do recommend it. Most RV sites are next to water and have full hookups. The place was clean and we did not find disrepair or lack of maintenance anywhere. Spacing between sites is good, not crammed close. Spouse caught fish from the bank, not something he's been able to do at other lakes. Towns close by can provide groceries, hardware, laundry as needed. We can't wait to go back!

From Marion, Kansas, take Highway 56 for about 4 mi. Turn north on Old Mill Road and continue almost three miles, then follow signs to the campground.
