Camp host are so kind and considerate. Helped us back our camper up into the space. Shared firewood with us as well. The weekend out there was a lot of fun with so many different celebrations going on. Bachelorette party family reunion friends just gathering.

We really enjoyed our time there. The sites are very well maintained, as are the restrooms. Everything is clean and tidy. The friendly site hosts came by on Saturday with info about the campground. We definitely want to go back.
Only one small thing--even though it was our first time camping at Venango, we knew that we were reserving a site without water at the site, but thought we picked a place next to the hydrant, based on the map on recreation.gov. We had hoped to fill our fresh water tank once we were parked and thought that would be easy since we thought we were next to the hydrant. However, when we arrived we discovered that the hydrant was not in the spot located on the map. Had we realized, we could have filled at the dump station but did not want to move the camper once we were backed in. Not a huge deal, I guess, and we managed for the weekend, but perhaps it can be corrected on a future version of the map.
The area is beautiful. We visited nearby Mushroom Rock State Park and hiked in Horsethief Canyon. We had hoped to visit the motorcycle museum in Marquette, but ran out of time.
