About Slough Creek

Slough Creek Campground is situated on Perry Lake in the lush Kansas forest. As the largest and most popular recreation area at the lake, Slough Creek is an ideal destination for family camping trips. CAMPGROUND GATE POLICY--Park entrance gates will be closed from 10pm-6am on Friday and Saturday nights and the entirety of holiday weekends. An exit lane is provided with one way traffic only. No late entrance will be allowed and only Park Staff or Emergency Personnel will be permitted though the gate after 10pm.

Bathrooms have were obviously not being cleaned. My generator was actually taken apart while I was there, people who stayed there blared music past 2am. Would not stay here again.

The shower house between Wort and south loop are disgusting. Water running everywhere, tampons in the shower, no hot water. There is no playground in south, even though the map shows one. The grass was not cut leading to many bugs at the campsite. Our campsite had a huge water/crack/wash out from end to end making it a trip hazard. The road in south loop needs redone it has dips which is harder to navigate a camper. Overall not happy about the campground.

Bathrooms in slough creek are atrocious. Whoever is being paid to clean them is not doing it. They restock toilet paper but that is it. Grass is too long also. Seeing more snakes around the campsites because of the tall grass.

Clean park with large spaces (Bur Oak Loop) and a lot of grass. The first two days we were the only ones on our loop, but it got crowded for the weekend. Lots of nice folks having a good time! We had 30 amp electrical service and water which is fine for a few days. Great views of the lake. It was an easy drive to Topeka or Lawrence for activities and restaurants. Barbwire BBQ in Eudora is excellent.

Apparently I took the wrong site two or three days later I was informed on a phone call
Everyone was good for the night to stay but option was stay and occupy my other site right next to the one I was in
I choose to leave and head to my next location because of the heavy rain that was forecast
Which it turned out to be a good decision
Did not have to fight the soggy ground and dodge the mud
I think I learn a valuable lesson

The campground is very well maintained and the facilities are in excellent condition. This site was very uneven and fell off considerably on the drivers side, but we just had to reposition a couple times to find a spot that worked. The campground is definitely a bit noisier then most due to all the powerboats going by all day, which is not really our vibe, so we probably won't be back to this particular campground, but if that's not an issue, I can definitely recommend it.

General

  • We need your help to protect the natural resources so that future trips to Perry Lake are as rewarding as today’s. In order to make your camping experience more enjoyable, we ask that you observe the following basic campground rules. 1. Park entrance gates will be closed and locked Friday and Saturday from , and Sundays on Holiday weekends. An exit lane is provided with one way traffic only. 2. All pets must be kept on a 6 foot leash at all times or otherwise restrained (cable/chain). 3. Campsite occupancy/capacities are restricted to the following:               • One wheeled unit and 1 tent OR 2 tents maximum per site               • 3 vehicles maximum per site               • 10 people maximum per site 4. All vehicles must remain on paved or graveled surfaces. Parking vehicles on the grass is prohibited, extra parking is available at restroom facilities. Boat trailers (loaded or unloaded) may be parked on the grass adjacent to your campsite. 5. At the end of your stay please dispose of all trash in the dumpsters located in the park. 6. Vehicles must be operated in accordance with applicable state laws. Only licensed vehicles operated by a licensed driver can be used within a public use area. Park roads are for ingress and egress only. Absolutely No ATV’s, Golf Carts, or other battery operated vehicles can be operated in the park.  7. All waste water (gray and black water) must be disposed of at the sanitary dump stations.  8. Dead and downed wood may be used for firewood, cutting of standing trees, limbs, or bushes is prohibited. Operation of a chainsaw is prohibited, hand tools are allowed.   9. Fires must be confined to fire rings provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  10. Camping is limited to 14 days on a site, campers must vacate the site for 24 hours prior to returning. Campers may move to a different loop in the campground during that time.   11. Camping facilities are for campers only, no day use is allowed within the campgrounds.
  • Due to the spread of invasive insects like the Emerald Ash Borer, firewood from outside the area is not permitted. Visitors to Perry Lake may only bring and burn firewood originating from Jefferson County, Kansas. For more information please contact the Perry Lake Project Office at 785-597-5144.
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
