Park hosts were very helpful, they were excited to help people, with not only the park but about the area. They know their park and each space.

We stayed in this site as nothing else was available for the weekend. We have a 22' travel trailer, which the online reservation system accepted for this site. When we arrived the area on the right side of the drive entering the site was so washed out it was almost impossible to back the trailer into the site. We ended up placing rip-rap along that edge of the drive where the pavement and gravel had washed away to prevent the truck tire from dropping off. On the opposite side of the drive entrance was a culvert pipe with a large drop-off. It took multiple attempts to get the trailer into the site, and that was with two people watching both sides of the truck and trailer as we backed in. We made mention of the situation to the gate attendant (a volunteer) and was informed that the park service is aware of the situation and has made attempts at placing more gravel at the entrance. We can tell you that their attempts have failed miserably. The drive entrance needs to be completely reconstructed to address the amount water that runs across and along side the site and drive.

Review of Site 94 at Canal Campground. Overall, the site is very easy park your camper in. Ample space to pull ahead and back-in. The site is very level, covered with a fine layer of gravel. Water, sewer, and electric connections are easily accessible. The minor drawback we have with the site is that it is very close to site 95. When the campers in site 95 walked around their camper to check anything on their camper or to access their storage compartments it felt like they were in our campsite. The sewer connection did not want to accept the fitting we have that typically screws into sewer pipes at most campgrounds. We had to modify our sewer hose. Fortunately, we had one of the old foam donuts to slide over the sewer hose to seal the sewer pipe.

This was a great campground. Beautiful sites. Many of them had water access and water view. The paved camper sites were pretty level and easy to back into. Some sites are on multiple levels for better views and to get level areas within the sites. This might be challenging for people with mobility issues. We were there late in the season. Some water had been let out of the canal. The swim beach was dry. My dog was still able to swim. She loved it. This campground is large with lots of places to explore. A good place for a bicycle.
