What a wonderful find. We camped here in a motorhome for one night. Our site overlooked Lake Barkley. It was quiet with a beautiful view. Would absolutely stay again.

We stayed one night on our way from Arkansas to Lexington, Kentucky. It's a beautiful campground, right on the lake. The camp hosts are very nice. We liked it so much that we planned our return trip, this time from Indiana back to Arkansas, just so we could stay at this campground again. Would highly recommend.

The site was very nice, clean and it had a wonderful view of the lake with fantastic sunsets. There was adequate shade from trees. Getting down to the lake shore near our site to swim in the water was problematic due to the rocky shoreline, slippery rocks and a lot of very large dead fish floating along the shore. We rented a pontoon boat from a nearby marina and noticed the same issue with dead fish all around that part of Lake Barkley. I think it could be related to the dam. We did manage to launch our kayaks near our site, but that was also not easy. Although we didn't need to use the shower house, I checked it out and it was very clean though quite rustic. I noticed in other reviews complaints about noise from the train. It was not really an issue and not that close. However, the campers at the site next to us left their barking dog in their camper while they left for about 5 hours so that wasn't pleasant. Overall though, it was a very enjoyable week.

The woman at the front gate was fabulous. She was kind, informative and glad to see us. This is our kind of campground, no miniature golf or swimming pools. Just a gorgeous lake and trees.
