We had our own space and so much of it. Beautiful area with trees, grass to run around in, two fire rings for some reason, and two picnic tables. Maybe the campsites are designed for more than four people. It felt excessive, but it was great. Very private. Having electric and water hookups was also really nice.
There are really nice, well kept paths close by for hiking. We were in campsite 2. We didn’t have horses, but the last three regular spots were taken, so we had to choose a horse site. It was clean, with no remnants of horses. Our spot was only partly shaded by trees. Site 1 had even less shade. Site 3 looked really nice and had plenty of trees. We were a good distance from sites 4 through 6, so I have no idea what those were like.
Some horses pulled up at site 3 for one night next to us. That was fun.
The ferry isn’t always running, and you can’t take a camper van or anything larger on it anyway. So it’s about a 45 minute drive to Mammoth Cave National Park, even though it could otherwise be about 15 minutes. But going through town is nice and sweet, and it’s a pretty drive. Just expect the longer drive, and it’s really not a problem.
The bathrooms are gross, but that was to be expected. They’re vault toilets, and that’s clearly stated in the description. No surprises.

The campground was very spacious, clean, and quiet. Would be great for families as each site had lots of open space with enough trees for shade. It is out of the way but the roads in were good. Taking the green river ferry to the mammoth cave national park was a treat (vehicles only, no trailers).
The entrance and exit signs need to be reversed as the proper angle for backing into sites required entering by the exit and leaving through the entrance.

This is a great campground. Very quiet with good water and electric hookups. It might be louder with large groups, but our experience was nice. The water tasted great. If you have a trailer you might want to enter the wrong way. The pads are angled as if for pull in. You have to go the long way around to get to the camp ground, but on e there the Green River ferry is easy with minor waits.

This is beautiful camp ground wish we could have stayed longer.
The one thing is if you are planning to have an RV verify the camp sizes. We had planned on taking our 40 FT Fifth wheel with 3 slides . At the last minute we bought a smaller 25 ft Travel Trailer with 1 slide. Our space that was to hold a 40ft 5th wheel, bearly fit our 25Ft travel trailer.

Camp site #7 at Maple Springs was everything we needed and more! With a water supply, electrical plug-ins, and a short walk to the bathroom, it made for a great stay. Tons of cleared space for several tents. We fit 3 with no trouble and could have realistically fit 2-3 more comfortably. Close enough to other sites that we didn't feel totally isolated but didn't feel right on top of each other either. My "need to knows" for this specific site were. #1. The fire pits are in kind of a weird spot. They're kind of close to the road and not near the picnic tables/where we set up tents. Not a massive deal at all but I did like how some of the other fire pits were set up better at the other sites. #2. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, but they aren't the worst I've ever seen either. Definitely prefer plumbing but it's not an actual portapotty so that's a plus. It is essentially a fortified portapotty though, no flushing/sinks/mirrors/etc., just FYI. #3. You're at the mercy of the ferry's schedule for travel time/cave tours/showers/camp store/etc. We never had a problem with using the ferry, but keep in mind it runs 6 AM to 6 PM and can have last minute closures, and if you're caught on the wrong side of the ferry from the campground, it can take ~40 minutes to get to camp. All 3 of these are totally doable and the beauty and comfortability of the site over shadows them TEN FOLD. They're just things I'd want to know about the site. We plan to book again!

- Directions from the North: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255 as it becomes the Mammoth Cave Parkway in the park. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway towards the Visitor Center. Turn left on the Green River Ferry Road. Cross the ferry and follow the signs to Maple Springs. Turn left onto Maple Springs Loop. Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

- Sites 1-4 have electric and water, and are recommended for equestrian use with a tie-up area. No sewer or dump station available.
- Sites 1-4 are recommended for equestrians with electric and water; vault toilets are available. No sewer or dump station.
Vehicles & parking
- Green River Ferry is closed; alternate route takes 45 minutes. Ferry operates limited hours. RVs cannot use the ferry.
- Ferry is subject to last minute closures; RVs cannot board. Call for operational status. Ferry hours are 6am-6pm.
