About Maple Springs

At Maple Springs, visitors can enjoy the serenity of the campground and surrounding backcountry trails, or spend their days exploring Mammoth Cave. Campers can explore up to ten miles of the cave through a variety of tours available at the Visitor Center. With more than 400 mi (400.2 mi) of mapped passageways, Mammoth Cave ranks as the world's longest known cave system. Mammoth Cave is named for its grand size and scale. Visit the Rotunda for an idea of just how large this underground world is. The World Heritage Site was explored by Native Americans more than 2,000 years ago, and Europeans discovered its existence at the turn of the 19th century.

We loved our stay at Maple Springs Campgrounds. I loved that it was quiet and felt a little more 'away from it all.' Be aware that getting back and forth into the main park area requires a ferry ride and the hours of operation were not as long as I would have preferred. There are no showers or dump stations on that side, so plan ahead.

There are great trails off of the campground or just across the ferry. If you tour the caves, purchase tickets well in advance as we found that several of them sold out quickly.

Great site, quiet. parking Trailer can be odd depending on site. Our site had one-way entrance and harsh angle on trailer pad. once in, it was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maple Springs campground. We had it to ourselves due to the fact that the ferry wasn’t working the first day we were there. The only complaint I have is that nowhere in the reservation process was it stated that there weren’t showers of any form. That was an unpleasant surprise.

Ferry was not working and travel to park was over 1.5 hrs. A bridge should be built. Also Park being closed due to shut down was
Detrimental. I don’t understand why there are not RV hookups in the park.
