Lawrence Creek Campground

Great little campground on the Ohio River. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Very short drive to the downtown area with plenty to see and do. We can't wait to stop here again when going this direction.

So we stayed at campsite 12 Friday night. We were supposed to be Saturday night also. We did not stay because we were not comfortable in the campground. The bathrooms were trashed and gross. They had bandaids, hair, old soap, just nasty and dirty disgusting. We camp a lot. We travel a lot. This is probably one of the dirtiest places we have camped. Not to mention all the full timers with dogs barking all the time. And then the camp next to us that partied til 3 in the morning yelling, when quite time is 10 pm. I usually don’t complain. But this is not a comfortable place to stay.

1. Bring an adjustable water pressure regulator, the pressure was 140. We watched a couple of people have their water heater pressure valve pop due to not having one :/
2. IF your GPS has you turning RIGHT into the campground, be careful! That turn has you almost doubling back on yourself and if your rig is very big it won't work. The entrance/exit is fairly steep and our rig required 4x4 when leaving (but our toyhauler is 26,000 pds).
3. Not really big rig friendly. We did make it in, and we did fit but it isn't really setup for big rigs.

The walk along the river is super relaxing. Great trail to take the dog(s). Nice little spot at the end to sit and watch the boats/barges. The owner (John) is a great guy.

Maysville is close by and has a lot of convenience options plus fun stuff going on. Lots of history in the area including covered bridges.

Absolutely beautiful location!! John is super nice and helpful! Theres a store to grab provisions and drinks! Very cute bar open Thursday Friday and Saturday. The bath house is very clean! Great prices and great views.. We'll definitely be back

We really enjoyed our stay here. I had communicated with John, the owner, early in the week and he was quick to respond to my email. We were able to check in early around noon. Our spot was a premium spot right along the creek, site 9. We had a deck that over looked the creek which was very nice.

The site it’s self was pretty level, only requiring a small amount of side to side leveling. We had both 30 and 50amp as well as standard 120v. No issues with the power at all. Water pressure is a bit high so be sure you bring a regulator. The campground itself was surprisingly quiet, no issues with rowdy/loud campers. I believe mostly everyone that was there with us were seasonal guests. Everyone that we encountered was very nice and friendly.

The shower/bath house was very nice and clean. The campground was very well kept. We walked along some of the trails, I believe they’re for ATV’s but they made for an easy walk along the river bank with some beautiful views. I unfortunately did not bring a pole but the creek that the campground is located on was very active with wildlife, I would think it would be very good fishing. We saw several turtles and even a few beavers. We did do some kayaking on the creek which was great. The bar looked very cool. We didn’t have a chance to grab a drink but they had a very good selection, the atmosphere was great.

It was a great trip to kick of the 2023 camping season. The owner takes a lot of pride in his business and it shows. He was pleasant to deal with a very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The only negative I can think of is that a train comes by 2-3 times a day. It never appeared to be super early or late and always short, but it can catch you off guard. Some of the seasonal guest sites are a bit “trashy” but you come to expect that any where that offers seasonal and short term visitors.

We also visited Baker Bird Winery for a bourbon and wine tasting, it was very good and only 10 minutes away. The city of Maysville is also very close.
