What Guests Are Saying

Alum Ford Campground offers a clean, quiet, and well-kept environment with spacious sites and beautiful views of the Cumberland River. It provides great access to outdoor activities, including canoeing and hiking on the Sheltowee Trace trail. However, some visitors reported noise from nearby boaters and concerns about safety, along with muddy water unsuitable for swimming.

The site was perched over a boat launch, which was frequented by noisy visitors playing loud music through out the day and into the early hours of the morning (5 am). We never saw a ranger and honestly didn't feel safe so we left early. Recommended for people who might want to party and don't care about peace and quiet of the woods.

Also, the access to the river is littered and the water muddy. Not suitable for swimming. Atmosphere extremely humid, which made it impossible to get a campfire going : (

Great location next to water if wanting to canoe or kayak. Next to a great trail that will take you to a waterfall and an arch. Well kept. Praise to the workers at this national park and all the others who jobs and budget are at risk under this ridiculous administration. America should protect their parks and be proud of them.

Campground was nicely kept and the bathrooms were clean. It would be nice to have running water, but I’d rather be remote and not crowded than have running water. Access to Sheltowee Trace trail is awesome!

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
