Great primitive camping! Stairs at most of the sites. Nice boat ramp to the Cumberland River with beautiful views.

Alum Ford Campground offers a clean, quiet, and well-kept environment with spacious sites and beautiful views of the Cumberland River. It provides great access to outdoor activities, including canoeing and hiking on the Sheltowee Trace trail. However, some visitors reported noise from nearby boaters and concerns about safety, along with muddy water unsuitable for swimming.

Very quiet well kept campground. Plenty to see in the area with the river and Sheltowee Trace running rite through the campground. Even spotted a small bear about 100 yards down the trail from camp so utilize the bear boxes. Had a wonderful time

The site was perched over a boat launch, which was frequented by noisy visitors playing loud music through out the day and into the early hours of the morning (5 am). We never saw a ranger and honestly didn't feel safe so we left early. Recommended for people who might want to party and don't care about peace and quiet of the woods.
Also, the access to the river is littered and the water muddy. Not suitable for swimming. Atmosphere extremely humid, which made it impossible to get a campfire going : (
