Guests have had a wonderful experience at Desert of Maine - Cabins & Glamping, appreciating the cozy A-frame cabins and glamping tents, which are well-stocked and clean. The outdoor setup, including fire rings and seating areas, enhances the relaxing atmosphere. While there were minor issues, such as the fire ring's airflow and the absence of a dedicated office, the staff's responsiveness and the overall quality of the amenities leave visitors eager to return.

I always wanted this experience and this place made it best so I’m writing a long review:
Loved our stay! Such a beautiful and cozy A-frame cabin experience. Our favorite part was definitely the string lights ✨💕 they automatically turn on in the evening and create such a magical atmosphere.
The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully stocked. We booked the cabin with the half bathroom, which included a sink along with basic cleaning and soap supplies. We did have a small issue with the room lights not turning on initially, but the staff responded immediately through text and email, and someone came to fix it right away.
The cabin included extra blankets, pillows, and even a weighted blanket, which made it feel extra cozy. There was also a coffee machine with mugs provided. Waking up to the beautiful morning light coming into the cabin was one of the best parts of the stay.
The campground itself was very clean and well maintained. The fire ring includes a BBQ grill stand, and the outdoor setup was excellent — comfy patio chairs, fireplace seating, and a picnic table made it perfect for relaxing outdoors.
One thing to note: there isn’t a dedicated campground office onsite. The nearby welcome center belongs to Dessert of Maine and is not affiliated with the campground, so communication is mainly through text or email. That said, the staff were proactive, responsive, and very helpful throughout our stay. We also appreciated being able to check in an hour early thanks to their early availability text.
Only small con: the fire ring doesn’t seem to have enough airflow/oxygen holes, so the fire created quite a bit of smoke. A small improvement there would make the experience even better.
It also looks like they’re continuing to expand and improve the property this year. We noticed some new grill station setups and a few areas under construction, so it seems like even more amenities are coming soon.
Overall, everything felt worth the price, and we had a wonderful experience 🤍💕. Would definitely visit again!
!! Be aware of ticks or bugs use repellents much recommended!!

This place is amazing. So quiet.
We stayed in one of the domes and I would highly recommend it. Beautiful to watch the sun come up in the morning.
Plenty of room, especially outside with a picnic table and then chairs around a fire pit.
Everything you could possibly need is there in the camp area. It’s easy to navigate too.
Staff is friendly and more than happy to help or answer questions.
We stayed here 2 nights and slept better than any of the nights we stayed in Freeport at the Hilton Garden. The Hilton is fine, but if you want a truly restful Maine experience but without rough camping this is it. Beds and linens were all better than a regular hotel and the bathroom was well above a lot of places I’ve stayed.
I travel Washington state to Maine by car about once a year and this is definitely far and above the rest. It’s now one of our top 2.
And definitely good for all ages!

A lovely winter getaway! Our cabin was so cozy and comfortable, stocked with all the amenities. The campgrounds were quiet, and the little 24/7 camp store is such a nice touch. And really appreciated being able to bring our dog 🐕
Also really impressed with the overall branding of this place - the design of the cabins, the signage, the cheeky writing of instructions - everything is such a vibe. Would love to come back again (and walk the desert without the snow)

I spent two nights at one of the tents with my pup and had the most beautiful time. The decorating along with adding tons of comforts, was the best glamping tent I’ve ever been in. Super spacious, small fridge, woodstove worked like a charm, coffee/tea bar and the bed-wow, so comfortable and had two heated blankets! If I could give more than 5 star, I would! Definitely will return, highly recommend!

I stayed 3 nights at site 18 in October 2025. It was absolutely perfect. There were plenty of towels and linens and warm blankets. The bath house is so clean and nice, and I wasn't freezing cold when I got out. The toilet in the cabin is in a little closet, just right but cold if you leave the door closed. The cabin is one large room and it feels so spacious and lovely. Plenty of privacy with the provided curtains, if you want it. Large bed was comfy and cozy. Chargers easy to use on built in shelf by the bed. Coffee and etc in the cabin was more than enough and made everything even lovelier. The heat pump over the bed was just right for me. I wasn't looking to rough it, I wanted to relax and I did. I liked it so much Im going to ask them about bringing a retreat there in 2026. Photos are spot on accurate. They owners are clearly hilarious and committed to quality. Well done.
