What Guests Are Saying
Sea Swell – Megunticook offers stunning views and a beautiful, quiet park environment, with helpful staff and daily trash pickup enhancing the camping experience. However, guests should be cautious of hidden fees, such as the non-refundable credit card convenience charge, and some have noted issues with cleanliness in the showers and traffic noise from nearby roads. Overall, many campers appreciate the amenities and location, looking forward to returning despite some drawbacks.

Beware of their policies, ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS before booking. We booked a camp site for a little over a week for August 2025. We paid in full at time of our reservation. NO WHERE on their site does it say they will charge you a NON REFUNDABLE CC convenience fee when making your reservation. I had questions that needed to be answered before making my reservation, so once they were answered I booked over the phone. I was NOT told that there would be a CC convenience while I was making my reservation, either. Due to family health issues we needed to cancel, (we were well within the cancelation policy time frame). I called and explained my situation and they had no issue with canceling and I was told I would receive a full refund less the non refundable fees. They kept their reservation fee (ok, I get it, it stated it's non refundable). But then they didn't refund my the rest of what I had paid. I called back and they again said, yes, your reservation was within the cancelation period and I would receive full refund less non-refundable fees. So I asked, what are the fees that are non refundable? They explained the reservation transaction fee, CC convenience charge. I questioned that. Using a CC is the only way to pay for the reservation, NO WHERE does your website tell us about this convenience fee. He didn't have anything to say, just again, they have used the credit of all refundable fees paid. SO BEWARE BEFORE YOU BOOK OFF ALL THEIR FEES THEY SO CHARGE.

It took us some time to find this park, but when we did, we were incredibly pleased! BEAUTIFUL park, quiet and great amenities. The views here are unreal! Staff was nice and helpful. We will be back.

Camped here for a week, great spot, clean camp ground, one great thing is that they pick up your trash daily. The views from the water front are stunning, to your left is Indian island light house, North & South Haven islands straight ahead. We were away from the road so pretty quite. Would definitely stay here again!

I’m genuinely shocked by the amount of good reviews this campground has…
It is SO close to Rt 1 and all you can hear day and night is traffic. Our site is the furthest thing from level and they placed the fire pit just about in middle of the site so the options for adjusting your camper are slim to none.
There’s someone working at the store/office until 5 each day and someone who picks up trash at 9 each day but other than that we never saw any staff checking on the campground. As a result of that, cars absolutely FLY around the roads. We saw multiple people doing 15+ mph through this tiny campground, kids and dogs everywhere. Major heads up on the disgusting showers. One was decent, but another one had a mold covered shower curtain that had clearly been like for a very long time and was ignored by staff. The only plus sides of this place is the gorgeous ocean view and sitting area at the end, and the pool was decent as well. Maybe some people don’t mind the traffic but it is certainly all but relaxing when camping and the people speeding through the campground was a huge negative for us and we would never return.

This camping site may be small, but it definitely has its perks! I loved the full bathrooms and private showers—such a nice touch! It's conveniently located near local towns with delicious food options. We even visited a nearby fishery and picked up some fresh lobster. I will say that camping on the ground isn't the best due to the location, and while the cabins are a bit pricey, they're really nice! Overall, I'm looking forward to staying with friends in the lower cabins, cooking together, and soaking in the beautiful views of the lake!
