Jellystone Park at North Port Huron

Spent two nights at a family reunion. Lots of activities for all ages but adults spent most of our time catching up with family anyway. Nice dog park/run. Would have liked shuffleboard. Our Cozy Cabin was clean and sufficient; a softer mattress would have been nice. Comfort Station, including showers, was clean and convenient. Check-in was fast and easy. Overall experience was very positive.

Honestly, the ratings with 1-2 stars should be taken with a grain of salt as we read some of them prior to our arrival, and they were very misleading. The staff was friendly, and the cleanliness is what I expected out of a rustic cabin. The staff cannot control spider webs. You are camping outside in or near wooded areas, spiders and spider webs are to be expected.

The only reason I gave this campground 4 stars instead of 5 (I would have given it a 4.5 star if possible) is because of the showers. The water was extremely cold, which is to be expected at a busy campground. The main issue I had is the showers near the cozy cabins (maybe everywhere, not sure) were motion sensitive, so there was no way to manually control when the water would come on or go off. I understand the concept of the motion sensitivity, however when the water is cold, and it is motion sensing, it is not for families with toddlers that have to utilize this set up. If there was a way to keep the cold water on, you could pull the kids away, wash them, and put them back in. Instead, I would be in the middle of washing my toddler and I would randomly get hit with blast of ice cold water, or my toddler would get hit randomly with the water.

All in all, we would definitely come back. The water park and splash pad were great for toddlers. We got lucky and the park wasn't at full capacity so the wait times to go down the slides were very reasonable.

The amenities at jellystone are fantastic for a family with kids. There is so much to do and the kids loved it!
However, the upkeep and customer service is lacking. Our cabin had no screens so we were unable to open windows to let some air in. We asked the first morning if they could even bring us one screen - they said yes and then never came back. Not a big deal since there is A/C, however that went out late the second night during a very hot weekend and there was no one to get in touch with at that time. Luckily we were friends with others having cabins and they gave us one of their screens so we could air it out a little.
The grounds are starting to look overgrown and run down which is surprising for a place that’s a bit more costly compared to KOAs and other places we have camped. Lastly, nothing opens when it is supposed to. The camp store didn’t open on time when we needed to talk with someone and we waited almost a whole hour for the pool to open - even going to ask different people if anyone was available to unlock the gates and no one wanted to be bothered, seemingly. We were told “ugh I guess I can come open it” only for no one to show. It was frustrating bc it was our last morning before check out and we spent an hour with kids just waiting at the gates in the sun, along with many unhappy fellow campers. We’d go back and try again, it’s a great place, I think they just need better employees who care a bit more about their job

Cabin air does not work well at all. Bring fans if you decide to go. We chose the cabin specifically for the air as we have medical issues needed to be able to find a cool spot. Also tv and wifi don’t work at all had to hotspot if you wanted it at all.
Manager Beatrice was the best thing about this place. She was very kind when we expressed wanting to leave early and even gave a partial refund. Other staff members should take note.
The other staff members for the rec room couldn’t be bothered when we asked questions or expressed displeasure in activities not going right. Which isn’t all on them totally. However when trying to improvise and ask about other things we could do in place we were told not until the scheduled time. So we waited when it was time for the next activity only then were we told they don’t even have any youth sizes for the tie dye… also a lot of the activities are named just to be themed but are not accurate. Like the red white and boo boo stuff a plush. I thought it was a patriotic themed activity of either stuffing a boo boo bear or some patriotic stuffed animal with boo boo. But nope it’s choose a random animal of 8-16” which they hardly had any of either so and then on top of charging for the plush they also charged for the stuffing so the already 21$ animal plus stuffing. And no staff interaction for it other than paying them so it’s really not that special. May as well have gone to build a bear for that it actually is interactive and more fun. Every activity we did try to do just did not work out. Again not totally the staffs fault but definitely should be looked at and start advertising activities accurately and have back ups. Also when characters were expected to be out they did not show up. So again a lot of disappointment in this vacation. Will not be back it was very lack luster and on top of the 600$ we spent to just sleep their without having the amenities advertised you have to pay to nearly do anything else unless you wanna swim or play in the splash pad with paint chips and buckets that don’t work.

This was my first time renting a cabin, we usually tent camp but we found a good deal on a yogi bear cabin. The cabin itself was a bit dirty on the outside with the huge spiderwebs and dead bugs but inside the cabin, we were pleased to find a very clean space with very cold air conditioning, a good size fridge and freezer, and some basic amenities like a coffee maker, dish soap, hand soap, and paper towel. There was also cookware, silverware, and dishes that we didn’t use but I like that they were available. There was also WiFi and 2 smart TVs which was really helpful because we had almost no cell phone service anywhere on the property and the main office WiFi signal didn’t reach very far. There was only one person working the check in desk and she seemed very overwhelmed, but she was nice and helpful. The camp store is very expensive but it does have a ton of souvenirs, coffee, snacks, etc. Some things we weren’t very pleased with was the freezing cold water in the pool and splash pad. Our children and many other children around us were complaining about it and were shivering as they got out. There is also a large lake that we tried to fish from many spots but the water is very dirty and we didn’t catch a single thing, though we did see some turtles and saw a bass jump out. The beds are terribly uncomfortable but we didn’t have high hopes for a cabin mattress anyway lol. Lastly, there is supposed to be quiet time after 11pm but the people across from us were partying til 1 am and that was annoying that they don’t enforce that rule very well. Overall we enjoyed our time at Jellystone and we probably will visit again in the future.
