Timber Surf Campground

We had an amazing 6-night stay at Timber Surf Campground!

The campground is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and the perfect size—not too big, not too small. It has a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere that made it easy to unwind.

The location was ideal for us. We spent a few days exploring both Ludington and Manistee, each just a scenic 20–30 minute drive away. Along the way, we enjoyed spotting deer, wild turkeys, beautiful horses, and even some impressive longhorn cattle grazing in the fields.

The owners/operators were incredibly friendly and welcoming—they truly made us feel at home. We especially appreciated how proactive they were in keeping the campground running smoothly and ensuring everyone had an enjoyable experience. We also found ourselves making several trips to their little general store for ice, drinks, and those inevitable last-minute items we forgot. 😄

The bathhouses were clean and well cared for, and the campsites were equally well maintained. Our site easily accommodated our large 3-room tent, pop-up canopy, freestanding hammock, as well as the provided picnic table and fire ring—with plenty of room to spare!

The lake was beautiful, and the swimming area was clean and inviting. We spent quite a bit of time there enjoying the warm water and sunshine, while others took advantage of the paddleboard and kayak rentals.

You can truly tell how much pride this family puts into their campground. It shows in every detail, from the well-kept grounds to the welcoming atmosphere they have created. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend Timber Surf Campground to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing camping getaway. 🌲🏕️🌊

We love this campground so much ! We’ve come here the past 3 years and we have such wonderful memories. It’s a back-in-the day camping experience. Family owned - and they are amazing. Campers are friendly. Super safe for kids to run around and play. The lake is so warm (and not too deep) so you can swim in it. You can rent paddle boards, kayaks etc. Can’t say enough great things about Timber Surf !

It's a wonderful campground! The owners are so helpful and kind. There is a camp store for anything you may have forgotten. The lake is beautiful and fishing appears to be good. The campground is off the beaten path, but it is easy to get to town. We always enjoy our stay in Timber Surf.

Absolutely one of my favorite camping spots!! Staff is very friendly and welcoming, sites are enjoyable, bathrooms are clean [a must], the fish bite with a great cleaning station and we always seem to make new friends each year with the fellow campers. We always make a trip into Luddington a couple times during our stay but spend most of our days floating at the clean Timbersurf lake/beach area. Love when we get blessed with an appearance from the Bald Eagles too while kyaking on Round Lake!! Breathtaking!! Hope your stay is as enjoyable as ours over the past 20+ years!!

Our second year at Timber Surf Campground was just as memorable as the first. It's a fantastic family-friendly spot with lake access perfect for fishing. My son caught his first fish this year, creating unforgettable memories. Despite getting caught in a passing storm this past weekend, it only adds to the great stories we'll tell in the future. Highly recommended for a fun and adventurous camping experience!
