My family rented 2 of the cabins at this campground for 3 nights.
We arrived to our sites and were very pleased we were so secluded in the back. Until we found out the nearest bathroom that wasn’t a vault toilet was super far away and the showers even farther.
We were getting settled and unpacked. Multiple of our kids running around or crawling even.
Only to then realize that the lots were filled with a bunch of broken glass!!
We informed the office. He said “oh I can’t see it” and took what we collected and left.
Didn’t apologize. Didn’t look for more. Didn’t offer a discount. Nothing.
The staff was not friendly whatsoever. The cabins weren’t not even cleaned in the slightest. Our children should be able to play on the floor without instantly getting black indoors.

Disc golf course through woods. It's very shaded, so there's not much growing in understory... it's easy to find your discs. Most are under 300', not a distance course, but some tight fairways and difficult doglegs. Labeled well, easy to follow course.

Pioneer Trail Park & Campground is off US 2 HWY 41, situated on the Escanaba River, between Gladstone and Escanaba. It has 100 sites which range from basic hookup (water/electric) to full hookup (water/electric/sewer). Some sites are located within the beautiful mature trees, while others are in full sun. We were in site 28: level. Back-in, FHU on sand and grass. The bathroom/shower houses are very clean; however, we didn't use the showers. The campground has a boat/kayak launch, playground, ball field, disc golf course, and dog run. Sophie checked us in and shared several 'things to do' while in the area. She was so helpful in that she recommended places that were not on 'our researched' list. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Pioneer Trail Park in a Fifth Wheel.

What an unexpected gem of a campground! I can't think of a negative thing to write. We stayed in river site 56, it was spacious, peaceful, and had a beautiful view of the river. If you have young children, I would caution this site since there is a very steep hill leading down to the river. For being so close to the river, there were very few biting bugs anywhere on the campground. The bathrooms were always reasonably clean and the water pressure in the shower was good. All amenities worked as they should. People camping and staff were friendly, lots of families camping, and many people with dogs but there was never an issue with barking. There's a nice playground, and some large picnic shelters for family or larger gatherings. We put our paddle boards in at the boat launch on site and paddled down to Lake Michigan and back, it was beautiful and peaceful on the river, and the current wasn't strong at all. I might make a trip back to Escanaba just to camp here again.

Rented a cabin while I attend Midwest Truck Driving School in Escanaba. Real close to the school. Beautiful cabin with electricity. Nice friendly campground hosts. So far I love it here. I have no complaints. Nice hot showers in the shower room with good water pressure. Washer and Dryer for $4.50 a load (bring your own quarters). Outhouse by my cabin. The river is right by the cabin. The cabin is beautiful and the property it's on is beautiful. Good size campground. I haven't hit the disc golf course up yet but I will be while I'm here. Overall 10/10 experience. Cabins are priced well also. There is a bunk bed in the bedroom with twin mattresses. A full size bed also in the bedroom and a futon also in the living area of the cabin. There is a picnic table inside and one outside by the fire pit and also a recliner. Very nice set up! Also a loft to store things if needed in the cabin. 4 windows for good air circulation. I love this place! I would definitely recommend it!
