We really enjoyed our stay at D.H. Day Campground. Our site was large and private, a short walk to the beautiful and very quiet beach. We were close to the well maintained vault toilets and also right next to the Heritage Trail which was very nice for an enjoyable bike ride to Empire and back (about 19 miles round trip). We enjoyed visiting the various sights in the area. The Pierce Stocking Scenic drive is recommended and we had a very nice time hiking the Cottonwood trail at stop #4 on the drive (about 1.7 miles, 50 min).

Awesome campground. Very clean and great access to bathrooms. It is connected to a beautiful beach. I would definitely stay here again.

We were able to reserve a campsite (#63) just steps away from the boardwalk to Lake Michigan and the beautiful Sleeping Bear Bay.
Be aware - there are raccoons looking for food. One raccoon came on the picnic table trying to open the bag with food as we were setting our tent. Also, the green area around the campsite is thick with poison ivy, be careful with that.
They are very strict with the checking out time and had no patience with us vacating the site, as one of us had to remotely work for a couple of hours in the morning.
The Sleeping Bear Dunes Heritage Trail goes through the campground, which is wonderful and convenient.

One of the best kept campgrounds! So nice to be steps away from the lake. I felt super safe as a solo camper! Sites are close but there was still plenty of privacy

Great location, easy access to nice sandy beach, clean pit toilets, but there is a LOT of poison ivy around the campsites. If you have children who might not stay on the gravel, this is not the place for you.

Great having an on duty ranger at the campground for check in; as opposed to on-line only

Sites were very clean. Access to lake is close with many collectable stones on beach. Nearby towns are quaint. The shopping and dining experience is great. There is an amazing putt putt golf nearby too. The access to Sleeping Bear dunes, and Pierce Stocking drive is less than 10 minutes drive from DH Day campground. Also don't miss the Philip Hart welcome center.

DH DAY campground has a great location. Some concerns about the campground:
-When it rains very hard some of the campsites get flooded, even on higher ground.
-There are so many flies in the vault toilets. This seems unhealthy.

Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy is abundant at the campground and throughout the lakeshore. Tent pads and campsite driveways are kept clear of poison ivy. However there may be poison ivy lining the boundary of the campsite.
