We really enjoyed this national park. The camp sites are spacious/ huge, bathrooms, and facilities are immaculate & the area is beautiful.
We rode bikes, canoed on the platte river went to sleeping Bear dunes. There’s lots of bike trails and things to do.
We are definitely going back hopefully at the end of this month.

I like the paved pads on each site which makes setting up fast and easy. The restroom/shower buildings are very clean and well located.

What an excellent campground. I love the walk in campsites for those wanting to get a little further from the crowd. The bath house was the nicest I have ever seen. The park itself is beautiful and kayaking the Platte river and climbing the dunes are definitely the highlights. There was a very nice fish cleaning station too that I took advantage of. Only complaint is that with online reservations, it would be nice to not have to check in (or at least virtually check-in) like state parks.

Nice campground, quiet, good facilities. Close to River Access. Beware of very narrow area to park vehicles, especially if bringing two vehicles in addition to camper. Site diagram focuses on tent pad size and not width of paved area, doesn't help for rv camper planning.

This was a lovely campground. We were traveling with a 27' RV and wanted to stay close to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Despite the last minute trip, we were able to find available sites for each of the 3 nights we needed. The sites were 100% level which I've never experienced. It really saved on setup time, and showed how much the park cares about their tenants. The facilities were immaculate, every loop was peaceful and quiet, and the staff was very helpful with any questios I had about the surrounding area. I even purchased an annual US park pass here at the desk. Later in our trip we stayed at some private RV parks that were twice as expensive and 10% as enjoyable. I would come back here for two weeks next time, now that we know.

From the east (Traverse City): Take State Highway M-72 west to Empire. Turn south on State Highway M-22. Proceed 10 miles 16 km) (and turn right on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.
From the south (US-31/M-115): At the junction of U.S. Route 31 and M-115, continue north for seven miles (11 km). Turn left on Platte Road. Proceed five miles and turn right on M-22. Proceed one mile (1.6 km) and turn left on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.

- Entrance Fees - Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore charges a variety of entrance fees, depending on how a visitor arrives at the park. All visitors must have an entrance pass (separate from camping fees). The park also honors Federal Recreational Lands America the Beautiful (e.g., Resident Annual, Non-Resident Annual, Senior, Access, Military, 4th Grade, Golden Age). For more information visit the park's Fees & Passes web page. The Michigan Recreation Passport is not valid for entry at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which is a federally managed site.
