Site 24; great campground with beautiful lake; great for kayaking; sites off lake seem larger and more spaced apart; nice bike rides around quiet roads; no electricity but water available off sites and good; bathrooms good but no showers. Perfect fall scenery too. Very peaceful. Will make this a regular annual late season visit.

Wow! What a beautiful campground! Definitely a hidden gem for Iron River MI. Bathrooms were always super clean and hosts were friendly when driving around. We will make sure to camp here again! The only thing we wished the campground had were showers, so maybe in the future?! Otherwise, it’s camping. Go jump in the lake. ;)

The renovations that were done at Lake Ottawa looked very nice. Unfortunately, it's a shame that they spent all that time and money on bringing in gravel and blacktop to resurface the set up pads at each site but didn't take the time to make them level. we stayed in site #14 and had to use multiple blocks just trying to level our camper. We didn't have enough with us and had to finally say " it's as good as it's going to get." Also they built up the pads with so much gravel that you can't even put a mat out in front of your door because it created a big ditch going to the firepit and picnic table. Had to stumble over the mounds of gravel that was just pushed off to the side and never leveled out. It's a beautiful campground... Too bad that corners were cut when it could have been done right the first time and been sustainable for years to come. very disappointing!

One of my favorite places in the world!! That being said we are very disappointed in the lack up upkeep and maintenance being done in the park. The bathrooms are in poor working order and not cleaned regularly. The grass is rarely cut and the trails are almost nonexistent do to lack of maintenance and use. The park needs a lot of care and updates to bring it back to the beautiful place it used to be!!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened with near continuous rain for the 4 days we were there. Nonetheless, the setting, the grounds and the our campsite were splendid. This USFS campground is as fine as they come in part because of the sense of history visitors experience in camping in an area that was developed by the CCC program during the Great Depression. I should note that our trip was made especially pleasant by our host Bill who was very cordial and helpful, specifically in taking the time to trim the trees near the dump station so that our new 5th wheel could negotiate the access. We learned that Bill is a retired Naval officer who sincerely looks upon his duties as campground host as additional service to our country. Ottawa Lake is highly recommended, even if the weather may not always cooperate.
