We love camping here and do the annual Halloween camping. We go with multiple families and have done so for years. This year we had to pay an extra fee to guarantee that we would actually get the site number that we chose when making our reservations. If we don't pay the fee they could change the site number on us and separate us from the rest of the families we go with. When we booked the site # is available, so why would it change? What's the point in a deposit to hold the site when you won't guarantee that we get the site we chose? Just a way for them to get extra money.

Camp dearborn has a few things new this year you should know about when booking a site.
There appears to be no more "Book x amount of sites and get one free". That is now gone.
The other thing, they now charge a $5.00 LOCK SITE Fee to ensure they dont give your site to someone else.
They claim the system may automatically book it to someone else but pay the fee and they will guarantee it doesnt?
Seems like a money grab.
$4.00 booking fee *fair if they werent charging a five dollar lock fee. Besides, I booked it, they didn't.
$4.00 camping restoration fee *I have ALWAYS had to clean up the site left for me when I show up, every time. Even had to have grills replaced due to holes the size of a football in them bottom.
$13.44 Credit card service (Varies on your total it seems).
Base rate for electrical sites $56.00 a nite now.

This is a beautiful facility! There are a few full hook ups and the rest are electric only. The down side is there is only 1 dump station and 1 fresh water intake. For a camp ground this size it absolutely should have at least 4 like most state campgrounds. However I would definitely come back in the off season. Its beautiful campground.

On Friday September 19th, 2025, My husband and I drove over an hour to go look at this campground to see if it would work for us for a near future camping trip(spring/summer 2026). Upon arriving we stopped at the gate and explained to the worker what it is that we would like to do and let her know that we drove over an hour to get there. Her attitude sucked at best and she informed us that nobody is allowed to drive through on weekends(fri, sat, sun), only Monday-Thursday. When I asked to speak with someone in the office(like a manager) she informed me that she had let someone drive through on a Friday last week and she got yelled at for it. I didn't ask for an explanation, I asked to speak to the manager directly so that I could explain that we drove a long way to look at their campground and planned on booking a site for next year once we had a site picked out. I guarantee we will not be back and I have notified several of our camping friends about what transpired. You have not just lost our business, but the business of at least a dozen others! Really, what does it hurt to let people drive through your campground on a Friday at 12:30pm in board daylight? Seriously?? Even if they need to purchase a visitor pass, what would it have hurt? Does your campground have something to hide Friday-Sunday? Sounds to me like you guys do. Thats pretty shady if you ask me and not everyone likes reserving campground sites without looking at them first. I suggest you do better!

Stayed at the full hookup dog friendly site. If you are in the inner circle, you have a very tight spot. If you have an outer spot, much bigger space for dogs to run around. We booked last minute for Labor Day weekend. Nice huge park and plenty of playgrounds. Most areas are "no dogs allowed" which was kinda a bummer. There are camping sections that are dog friendly, would have liked to see a fenced in dog run or area I could let my dog play. Another downside I didn't like the fire pits so close to the camper, they cannot move and sites are right on top of one another. I felt like I was in my neighbor's space. We did enjoy our time though, plenty of paths to ride bikes.
