Highly enjoyed the remote campsite, though I would recommend lots of bug spray and layers as the mosquitos are vicious. The lake, I was told, has snapping turtles. We went to nearby Pete's Lake for swimming.

Campground excellent. Well maintained. Appreciated senior pass discount. Not thrilled to pay more for reservation fee ($9) than 2 nights lodging - most National Forest campgrounds I have been to were first come / first served and did not require a reservation fee. Did not use / would not have used out house - worst one I have ever seen.

the bathroom had toilet paper, the lot size was nice and larger than expected. Not quite for tent camping, but grass was mowed (grass clippings though, wet in the morning). Overall great lake to relax by and quiet (saw mother and baby loons and two swans).

Literally the most bugs I have ever seen/experienced. We had to put on all long sleeves and 100% deet bug spray and that still didn't work. My boyfriend and I ended up setting up the tent quickly and then hiding in the tent till the next day and we could leave the bugs behind. This would be a very beautiful spot with the lake right there and an out house provided, but the relentless attack by mosquitoes makes me have to give this site a poor review.
