We love the campsite and the lake. A good swimming area is a real plus. Just wish it wasn’t on a lightly used trail that bring a few off road vehicles thru the campsite.

Very nice, well-oriented site on pristine lake. Easy yak put in, decent swimming. Relatively close store (5-6 miles?) for ice. No voice cell service, occasionally text could sneak through. Final road adequate for our 20 foot trailer, much longer might be problematic due to big dips and tree proximity.

Go camping for the quite. It wasn't quite at all. Logging operations going on made it very hard to enjoy will all the noise until some night 8:00. The road coming into the campsite was almost impossible to get down with my camper. It would also be nice if two signs could be put up one on each end of the camping sites to slow down the traffic so it wasn't so dusty. Because of the Logging operations they would drive by then come back by to stay away from the loggers mess. I sure hope they fix up the road before they leave. It sure would be nice if they could keep it i better shape while they are there. I have stayed there for years now and this was the worst stay we have ever had. Thanks.

We had a very nice stay at Mowe, when we arrived we were happy to have wood waiting for us-thank you to whoever left it! The lake was full of fish and the guys caught lots of bluegill. There were beavers, an eagle and many turtles that kept us company. They are logging the area right now so there’s a low hum of activity across the lake.

From the Intersection of US-2 and Forest Highway 13 (about 14 miles east of Rapid River), drive north 19 miles on Highway 13 to CR 440.
- Turn right (east) and drive 3.5 miles to FR 2209.
- Turn right (southeast) on 2209 at the Big Springs North Trailhead and drive 0.4 mile to FR 8104.
- Turn right (west) and drive about 0.6 mile to the campsites.
Mowe Lake Campsites is accessible via US-2, located approximately 14 miles to the west at the intersection with Forest Highway 13, which provides direct access north to the campsites.
Elevation: 244 feet
37 mi drive to downtown Rapid River (about 41 min)

Arrival & departure
- You must occupy your campsite on the first night of your stay.
- Do not leave your campsite unattended for over 24 hours.
Safety & rules
- You must pack out what you pack in.
Site capacity
- You can stay for a maximum of 14 days.
Utilities
- Drinking water is not available at the site.
Fires & fuel
- Collect firewood only if it is dead and down in the surrounding area.
- Do not bring firewood from outside the area to prevent invasive pests.
