the forest fire smoke had clear and we had a great trip. the only way to make it better would for there to be fewer mosquitos near the latrine. We went in early August. Next time late Sept for more color and fewer bugs.

We spent 4 nights at Badger 1 & 2 and had a wonderful time. We ended up camping exclusively at Badger 2 as Badger 1 seemed a little overgrown and not laid out well for our needs. That inlet of Crooked Lake was also very grassy, with no real opportunity to swim or fish. But the wildlife was spectacular. Looks, ducks, eagles, and a family of swans that nested there and patrolled the inlet daily with their four babies was something special. Commode was decent, but no lid. For our first trip to Sylvania, we left very grateful and satisfied.

The canoe launch sites and parking lot are easily accessible. We experienced some difficulty locating the campsite sign as it was hidden behind plant growth.

This campground was so peaceful and beautiful. It was exactly what our family wanted. We paddled out on the lake past nautical twilight to watch the stars, it was mesmerizing. This campground was a great place to get away from it all and unplug.

First time into any wilderness setting and Sylvania was the perfect fit for us. Beautiful weather, not a ton of bugs, great campsite, wonderfully quiet and all the incredible natural beauty. A great first-time experience.

No notification on fire ban posted. We are trail runners and the trails need clearing brushing and basic maintenance. If you don’t maintain trails you will lose them. It’s a critical part of experience.
