Dark Horse brewing was cool, The Wharf is a great place to watch boats and Mad Rabbit restaurant was unique and had great cocktails!
The rec area was wonderful and spacious, will go back !

The campground is very nice with plenty of space between sites, nice beach area, and very close to downtown. The people we interacted with that worked/hosted there were very friendly as well. The only negative was our specific site, although was very large once we got into it, it was not easy to get into for our fifth wheel. We have a 40 ft fifth wheel and it shows that size camper being just fine for that site(site 26) it was not easy backing into that site at all. You have to back in up a hill and with trees on either side trying to maneuver it was difficult and we have camped for many years so we aren’t new to backing into sites at all. Thankfully a neighbor came right over because he knew it was going to be a challenge and helped us. It’s more of a smaller camper back in site and maybe not a large fifth wheel where the branches were scraping the top of our fifth wheel as we were trying to back in as well. Once we got in the site was beautiful though and pulling out was a lot easier. We would definitely come back, we just scoped out other sites that would be better for our specific sized fifth wheel and how the back in process would be.

We were up there mainly for fishing and to visit our grand daughter, grandson-in-law and great grand son. We had a wonderful time fishing and a with the family. The campgrounds and bathroom facilities are clean.

This was our groups first time at this park and it was quieter & the sites more spacious than we expected. The campground is very accessible to town, restaurants, shops and offers easy walking. We didn't hear about the free boat ride by the Loon center or about the dog park and local hiking trails until our last day there. It would have been nice to have had a communication board noting some of these things and local activities. Our group tends to not want to look to social media while we are together so having local events/music/etc posted somewhere within the park would have been a nice addition to the park and check-in. Otherwise the park was clean the people were friendly.

to Crosslake, Minn. The campground entrance is to the left, at the intersection of County Roads 3 and 66.
Cross Lake Recreation Area is accessible via Highway 25, which connects to Brainerd, Minnesota. County Road 3 provides access to the campground from Highway 25.

General
- All reservations must be made and/or modified at recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. No walk ins allowed. * Cross Lake Recreation Area staff and volunteers do not make reservations on site.* Campers must risk their reservation being cancelled.
- In the interest of more effective resource management and to increase the overall enjoyment of the visitor experience available at the Cross Lake Recreation Area, Corps wide rules and regulations have been established and will be enforced (Title 36). Click here for more information 14-Day Stay LimitTo ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy our campsites, please be aware of our 14-day camping policy.Camping at any of our sites is limited to a maximum of 14 days within any 30-consecutive-day period.This rule is in accordance with official regulation CFS 327.7(b). An extension may only be granted with written permission from the District Commander.Please be aware that violations may result in the cancellation of reservations or removal from the campground.America The Beautiful PassesWe proudly accept America The Beautiful passes. To ensure fair use, please remember:The pass may only be used for the single campsite you are actively occupying.Passes are non-transferable and cannot be shared with friends or family for other sites.If a pass is used for multiple sites simultaneously, it will be invalidated, and the full camping fee for the additional site(s) will be charged.Cross Lake Recreation Area has additional rules including but not limited to:* Firewood restrictions are in effect to prevent the spread of invasive insects and disease. Click here for more information * ATV/UTV and Golf Cart operation within the campground is not allowed. * All vehicles and camping equipment must fit on the campsite. Do not park or place camping equipment on the grass.* Posted speed limit is 10 mph.* Limit two tents per site, or one wheeled unit and one tent.* Reserved campsites must be occupied daily and with intention of overnight camping. Visitors may not book a site just for access to the boat docks.
- Closure* The Campground will close 15-OCT-2026 for the remainder of the season. This includes all dump stations, all restrooms, and water spigots. At this time, the main boat ramp is expected to remain available throughout October.
