Sites 18 & 19 are great sites on the river. But, campers continually walk through thinking they are on the portage. Bumping their canoes on your tent in the morning, standing in your site asking “is this the portage?”. Better signage would alleviate that, making these sites more secure when campers are not there, and less invasive when they are.

1st time to Trails End Campground (site #26) - we used it as a 'one-nighter' for our jumping off point for our 4-day Boundary Waters canoe trip. It was a great location with the camping sites far enough away from each other for privacy - and exactly what you'd expect from a nat'l forest service campground - gravel tent site, picnic table, fire ring with water spicket and latrines not to far away from our site - nothing fancy. Campsite was labeled with our reservation along with the following day's user - this made it very clear who was supposed to in the site. We arrived on a very rainy late afternoon in early August - certainly made for a challenging camp set-up...but hey....it's the wilderness! For our one-night stay it was a quiet campground. If you want a great site overlooking Sea Gull Lake, choose Site #s 24 or 25

Garbage was overflowing. Outhouse needed to cleaned daily however we did not see that happening. The site that we stayed at where left cleaned.

I love this campground but it has gone down hill as of late. The campsite had litter and debris and the bathrooms were not attended other than dropping off toilet paper. Garbage bins were over loaded. Hopefully just a snafu in operations!

The water hookup was not operating. We did not receive an email telling us the water was down, so we did not bring any in our camper fresh water tank. I could have brought plenty of water with me and avoided the issue. The Outfitter "Way of the Wilderness" was in shambles. Nothing was maintained well, ran out of T.P. one day, their contract should be revoked and new management brought in. This is a beautiful area don't let it go to waste.

We had great weather and nice quiet neighbors. The view was very nice, but we did not have easy water access from our site. Other sites are better for this, but we were high with a great view. We hiked a bit on the 1.6 mi trail out of one of two boat landings. We launched our canoe from there as well and paddled into the BWCA, found a rocky island and went swimming. The stars at night were stunning.

Trails End is a beautiful place to camp. I love every single thing about the location except the pit latrines. These need to be serviced or re-designed.

Campsite was awesome, and was clean upon arrival. Be prepared for lots of pine sap on site 1. Worth it!
It was fall and concessionaire was short staffed, so hard to reach by phone, but service good when reached. Great time there in fall 22.

Campsite #1 was amazing with access to the Lake and a great rock to sit to watch the sunrise and sunset.
