Twiltley Branch Campground is praised for its friendly staff, beautiful lake views, and well-maintained grounds, making it a favorite destination for many campers. Visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, ample outdoor activities, and the cleanliness of the facilities. However, some concerns were raised about road conditions, bathroom maintenance, and communication regarding closures, which could be improved for a better overall experience.

We camped in a 22 ft travel trailer, campsite #29. It was right on a point and had great views of sun and moon rise over the lake. The sites are spacious enough and there is bank fishing over the rip-rap bulkhead. We saw mature and juvenile Bald Eagles within 100 yards every day. The camping loop was quiet throughout our stay, and we will certainly return. Tips: use W Lauderdale Road in Collinsville instead the more Southern route when you leave Hwy 19. The Collinsville Piggly Wiggly has nice groceries. In Meridian have lunch at Jean’s then drive by Planter’s Supply on 16th Ave and pick flowers on the roadside. Take a picture of the emergency contact sign in the gatehouse. It’s the only instruction you’ll get. I’d give the campground a 5 because it’s so gorgeous, but there were minor issues (listed below).
* small bits of litter to pick up and partially burned logs in firepit
*you have to drive to the shower house which is very dated but clean and has hot water
*the ONLY host we ever saw was seated in the gatehouse - usually staring at cell phone. Never passed through campground, didn’t acknowledge campers coming and going unless they were checking in. Must have left gatehouse to clean bath house because it was spotless every morning.

The campground is accessible via SR 19, which connects to I-20 approximately 10 miles to the south in Meridian.
