Chickasaw Hill offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with spacious, paved sites and stunning lake views, making it a favorite for many visitors. However, there are concerns about maintenance, such as overgrown grass, unclean bathrooms, and inadequate staff presence, which detracts from the overall enjoyment. While some campers appreciated the campground's potential and amenities, issues like trash overflow and noise from non-campers suggest a need for better management to enhance the experience.

The campground was a nice place to stay, but there is ZERO shade for those who are tent camping. Also, the showers have extreme water pressure. Maybe soften that just a little

This is the worst Corps of Engineers campground overall that I have ever been to. The facility is mostly good, with concrete pads and full hookups, but it is horribly managed and does not feel safe. The only real issues with the physical facility are that the loop by the boat ramp has very little shade, and the bathrooms have no soap and are not kept very clean.
However, the way the campground is managed is terrible. First off, there is no gatehouse or gate of any kind, which leads to several problems. There is a large community just outside the park, and people who are not campers or even there for day use drive through constantly. Some come to dump trash in the dumpsters, which means they are overflowing even when only a hand full of campers are there. I saw one couple dumping trash almost every day I was there (two weeks). Others come to use the restrooms, meaning you never know who might be in them showering. A couple of times I observed what appeared to be questionable rendezvouses at the bathhouse. One person came through several times and drove his pink truck past the No Motorized Vehicles sign down to the water and appeared to camp out there where there was no campsite. In addition, the day use people come through the campground to the day use area, meaning more traffic, and there are no speed bumps, so people drive 40 to 50 mi per hour through the campground ( the host said the COE refuses to install speed bumps). There are random cars coming through at 4 AM with music blaring. We did not feel safe not knowing who was wandering around the campground, and twice we were almost run down by speeders while walking our dog. I locked the RV every time I left it.
On top of that, the host does not enforce the rules, and we never saw a ranger. People play music and shout that can be heard all over at midnight. Trash is everywhere, and the host doesn’t pick it up. This could be a great campground, but right now if you aren’t a local you should stay away.

It was quiet and peaceful nice campground
Be prepared to clean your own fire pit. They were full of glass and cans, and we had to ask to park Ranger to clean it. When walking off the road, be sure to watch for broken bottles and glass. There is a lot of traffic that is not Park related going in and out. Not sure what that’s about the whole time I was there. There were only three campers but probably 50 cars came in and out a day.

Clean, quiet campground. The host's were very nice and friendly. Our site was spacious with FHU. It's a quick 20 minute drive up I-55 N. to Batesville for dining or shopping. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful and mostly quiet. Our pull-through site #9 was great. The site was level enough that we only used jacks and plenty long for our 40' class A and tow vehicle. Beautiful views and really nice walk. There were some issues with traffic speeding because we were on the leg that has the swimming area, boat ramp and picnic area. Some of the trucks had loud pipes but we didn't hear any noise at night. There were a few dogs off leash but they stayed at their site and didn't offer to come at our dog. The dumpsters were down a different road and always seemed to be full and the birds kept it a mess but were far enough away that it didn't affect the campground looks or smell. We really liked our site and will go back if in the area again.
Getting to the campground was interesting, you have to drive a mile down an old narrow road with what looks like lake houses on each side. On one leg of the campground, there is an old cemetery.
