Great campground. Only suggestion is to mow grass more often.

Was our first time at a Corp of Engineers facility and we were very pleasantly surprised. Relatively secluded full hook up level site by a gorgeous lake. Some road noise from I-55 (about a mile away on the other side of the dam) but not objectionable. Campground was less than half full. Other than doing things on the lake, there didn’t seem to be much to do in the area though. Was a nice but short multi-use path in the campground and may have been more on the downhill side of the dam.

I was on site #25 which was an interior site. The pad was HUGE! I could have parked a large RV, boat and two or three cars on that spot. The bathhouse was older but clean. Plenty of hot water. Had a herd of around 25 deer visit one evening. I would definitely stay here again!!

Not every spot has shade, so pick your spot carefully. The facilities were nice, but had a pretty bad smell. The other things- picnic areas, the lit, paved walking trail, boat ramps- all top notch. They do have street lights that are very bright, so be sure to have blackout curtains or something if you end up near one of the poles. The spots are really big, too!
