I would not recommend camping at Chewella Lake. The camping sites were overgrown and there was no access to the bathrooms and we were not advised before we arrived. The campground looked like it had seen better days and we were very disappointed. The pictures on the website must have been from years ago. We wont be back.

This campground needs a lot of TLC. It is a very nice spot and hopefully, more people will stay there to help justify spending to fix it up.

This place was full of trash, run down and in much need of an upgrade. No visible obvious host. Road conditions horrible, RV sites not even gravel or paved trees not trimmed and low hanging. Had to use 2 waterhole at our site to reach water spigot. Dump Station "Roadway" not even paved or gravel with low hanging branches. We originally had a week booked, but plans changed and we had reduced our reservation to 1 night.... thank goodness!! Walked down by the lake, lots of trash and bottles everywhere and had been accumulating for some time. Has potential to be a nice park, if only had not be left neglected for years.... putting this one on my "Avoid" list.

I would not recommend staying here, not managed well or clean.

We stayed at site #2 in our Camper. The spot had everything we needed for electrical and water hook up. Bonus is you could see a bit of the lake from the site. We enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, and checking out some of the walking areas. The facilities were closed for safety purposes due to the pandemic, so no rating on those. The only thing I will mention is some of the other campers left trash at their site, and also dumper their tanks(not sure if only grey or black as well) on the site they were at as well. There is a dump station on site, btw. Over all, we had a great experience, just wish people would be more responsible.

We camped at several paid campgrounds on this trip but I insisted on trying out this one as well. I had never stayed at a free site before and was a bit concerned. It was amazing! Great views, not a lot of people and those who were there were far enough away we didn't even notice them. We didn't even mind not having hookups! It felt perfectly safe though there was one truck that made several passes through during the night and a young couple who came late at night and parked for a bit in another site. It was me, my daughter and granddaughter and we didn't feel unsafe at all. We stayed one night on our way to Lebanon, MO and another night on our way back to SC. I will stay here again! Easy to get to and oh, so peaceful!

Found my campsite easily, but my power and my neighbor's power was not turned on until late that night. There was no one around to assist and the campground hosts were not in.
