We go to 86 many times a year and love the park and attendance. But each year the dog population has grown and is now out of control.
It has become a dog park, some sites having 5 and six dogs on it. Dogβs barking every time they see another dogβs being walk down the street.
I am a dog lover and donβt take my dog camping with us. There has to be some kind of limit on how many dogs can be on a site.
If we could find a pet free park, that was like 86, we would stop going to 86.
I know itβs not just us that have seen the pet population grow, as others campers have talked with us about this issue.
Many do not pickup after there pets and I do approach them when I see it and tell them not to leave that for other camper and they need to be more responsible for their pets.
Help with this, and add limitβs and more cost to those that choices to bring all these barking dogs that bark at other dogs or all the squirrels running around.
Please!!

Campground is kept immaculate. Staff is friendly and helpful. Mentioned to a staff member we were leaving, but didn't want to. She found us another empty spot for an additional two nights. We enjoy our stays there.

Positives: (some depend on what you want):
It is very well monitored and managed by attendants, the host, and Rangers. It feels like a very safe place to camp. It is clean and well kept. It is kid and family friendly with safety and activities in mind. Most of the sites have a great view of the lake with many having good access for a paddle board or kayak. Our site was one of the more private ones with no neighbor to one side. Sites are mostly flat with good RV/Trailer access.
Negatives:(some depend on what you want):
Itβs a very busy and crowded camp ground. Sites are pretty close together. Our site unfortunately had one of the worst views(relatively speaking) and was down low with very little breeze. The cove we were in had a party barge set anchor for an extended period with loud music and a party crowd(again, depends on what you wantβ¦we wanted peace and quiet). Lots of bikers and walkers frequently pass by(everyone was very friendly but takes away from the privacy and serenity aspect).
Summary:
If you donβt mind a busy camp ground, a lot of people passing by your site, and sites that are a bit packed in, the rest of the 86 camp experience is wonderful. It is beautiful, a prime location, family friendly, and safe.
