Everything was good except for the ticks and spiders falling from the trees. We had a party of 6 campers and several had bites! I had to go to urgent care, went home with antibiotics and prednisone lotion.

I was very disappointed that there were no showers in Deer Run and three people in line to use the small bathroom. I ended up moving my original sight to Cedar Ridge. What do people do for shelter if a tornado comes through again in Deer Run?
They also need some organization at the boat ramp…what a mess, people trying to pick up or drop off their drivers was a nightmare. My suggestion is to put in a boat dock on the right on the point looking at the water so those that are going solo can dock their boat and walk to their car rather than tying up on the boat ramp, this could also allieviate dropping off and picking up. It makes it hard to dock/undock, launch or takeout. The weekend of May 6, when the storms rolled in, was mayhem.

Near Hannibal where lots of Mark Twain activities are. Didn't fish this trip, but the lake was very nice and lots of boating. Ticks were a nuisance.

Very upset that the bath houses have been removed. The sign indicates that the new ondes will not be built until 2024. The bath houses are the only safe places in case of a storm or tornado. We had severe weather with warnings to go to an interior room or basement. In a case like that the ranger would be going around the campground telling people to use the bath houses for safety. Something needs to be done now, not next year.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
