Was a beautiful area plus and the river was awesome big springs was so nice to look at, campgrounds were nice and kept, but campgrounds were not big enough to accompany a 45 ft trailer and no water hookups. I will stay again but must make better plans

The area is beautiful. The nats and mosquitoes were relentless. The handicap camping was not as roomy as we would have liked. Floating down the river is a must for most able campers. And a visit to the ice cream shop in town is a must. One couple in our group set up a movie at the camp. It was great. All in all there were 14 of our group at the campground and 4 at local rental properties. We all loved being there where most of us camped when we were growing up. A great time was had by all!

Clean, quiet campground. Great roads within the park. Hot showers! Close to the river.

Always a great time when we come to Big Spring! We will be back next year. Only issue we tried to switch camp area to a more secluded spot but would not allow us to. We know where to select next year.

The campsite was good and I really enjoyed floating. And when I took a shower, I just, I contracted staff infection, three days after I came home, my foot swelled up three times its size. And then when I went to the doctor I had to be put on two different antibiotics. Because I had contracted staph infection

MAJOR bug infestation issue - fleas, chiggers, gnats and mosquitos. Biggest bug issue ever experienced in 6 states RV campgrounds including Alley Spring and Sam Baker SP in Missouri. Sprayed Cutter yard spray and Citronella candles outside and ZEVO blue light bug killers inside RV. NO HELP. Multiple bug bites
Source appears to be poor lawn mowing standards and frequency. Grass was recently mowed with LARGE patches of grass clippings on top that is perfect source for mosquito nests. Apparently, grass was very high and sickle bar mower had to be used versus commercial grade lawn mowers. Frequency and high setting of mowing issues at Montauk is readily apparent when visiting Meramec SP with immaculate and low level mower setting. Meramec Section 2 is a very large loop and right next to Meramec River. MUCH less bug infestation issues.
