The Upper Current District Backcountry Campsites offer peaceful surroundings during the week and solid, well-equipped sites, including options along the river and in shaded areas. Weekends can be busy, and there are concerns about horse traffic off trails. However, check-in via Recreation.gov can be challenging due to lack of cell service.

Beautiful and secluded primitive camp site right on the river. The 7 miles of gravel road are well maintained and not terribly steep, any vehicle could get to this site without significant problems.

We really enjoyed camping at cedar grove. We had #6 and it had a picnic table and fire pit right next to the water with a soft Sandy beach front. It was the best campsite I’ve ever had. The vaulted toilets were clean and convenient. Loved everything about this area for camping and the float from Cedar Grove to Akers Ferry was really nice too.

Cedar Grove Campground is located about 10 minutes from Jadwin, Missouri. Starting in Jadwin, drive west on State Highway ZZ. Follow this road for roughly 5.3 miles. (Note: After 2.3 miles, the road will become County Road 651.) Eventually, you will reach a large concrete river crossing. Just before the crossing, take a right turn onto NPS Road 154. This gravel road will take you through the campground. This route requires driving on gravel roads for less than 1000 feet.

Cedar Grove Campground is located about 12 minutes from Jadwin, Missouri. Starting in Jadwin, drive west on State Highway ZZ. Follow this road for roughly 5.3 miles. (Note: After 2.3 miles, the road will become County Road 651.) Eventually, you will reach a concrete river crossing. Cross over the river and drive up the hill to the intersection. Then, turn left onto NPS Road 109, which will take you to the campground and river access. This route requires driving on gravel roads for less than 1000 feet.
SINKING CREEK:

Sinking Creek Campground is located roughly 20 minutes north of Eminence, MO. Starting in Eminence, drive north on Highway 19. After about 14 miles, there will be a bridge over Sinking Creek. After crossing the bridge, take the first left. A short gravel road will take you to the campground, about 600 feet away. This route requires driving on a gravel road for about one tenth of a mile. Most vehicles are fine on this road.
JERKTAIL:

Jerktail Campground is located roughly 30 minutes from Eminence, Missouri. Starting in Eminence, drive north on Highway 19. Follow the highway for 5 miles, then turn right onto County Road 19-221. Follow this gravel road for 2.5 miles. At this point, the road forks left and right in a "Y" shape. Turn right into County Road 224. After another 1.4 miles, the road will fork again. Turn right to stay on County Road 224. After 2 miles, the road will end at Jerktail. This route drives on gravel roads for 6 miles.
BROADFOOT:

Directions
Broadfoot can be found roughly 25 minutes from Eminence, MO. Starting in Eminence, drive north on Highway 19. After about 2.7 miles, turn right onto County Road 19-205. Follow this road for about 3 miles. The road will then split in a "Y" shape. Take the route on the left. After .2 miles, the road will merge with County Road 19-203. Keep going for another .4 miles until the road splits again. Turn left, then follow the road until it hits a field. Drive counter-clockwise around the field to reach the camp.
The campgrounds are accessible via State Highway ZZ and Highway 19. Highway 19 provides access to Sinking Creek, Jerktail, and Broadfoot campgrounds, while State Highway ZZ leads to Cedar Grove and Dee Murray campgrounds.
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
