North Fork River Ranch

We really enjoyed our first stay at the ranch bunkhouse (3 nights) this week! Stayed in #7. Darren was great and very responsive. He also shuttled our kayaks. This is definitely a hidden gem!

Our afternoon at North Fork River Ranch was nothing short of a dream, offering a soul-stirring escape into the heart of the Ozarks. From the moment we swung into the saddle, it was clear that this wasn’t just a standard trail ride; for me it was a personal journey through some of Missouri's most breathtaking landscapes riding our Missouri Foxtrotters.
The trails wound through ancient, sun-dappled forests where the air smelled of cedar and damp earth. There is a specific kind of magic in the Ozarks—the way the light filters through the canopy and the rhythmic sound of hooves hitting the soft trail that makes time feel like it’s standing still.
The highlight, without a doubt, was the river crossings. Nudging our horses into the crystal-clear waters of the River felt like a true adventure. Watching the water ripple around their legs while feeling their steady, powerful gait beneath us was exhilarating. The horses handled the current with such calm confidence, clearly at home in the refreshing cool water.

Beautiful, clean campgrounds that are very well laid out with tons of water hydrants. Very friendly people, both staff and other campers. Laid back friendly place. Trails are a mixture of easy and challenging. Would definitely recommend.

Very accommodating, beautiful, and easy to maneuver! Everyone was so nice, they serve some great food on holiday weekends and special events, made primitive camping and kayaking the north fork river easy and relaxing.
