I wouldn't recommend spending the money to dig here, the day we went there's about 10 to 11 people there and none of us really found anything worth keeping. The spot they have for RVs to stay is actually pretty nice but I would never go back and pay the money to dig. We paid $190 a person to dig on the bank and the tailings and the bottom pit and we really didn't find much neither did the other eight people that were there. I know the mind produces some of the best stuff in the United States I just wish they gave you a bigger area to dig.

Remote location. Very quiet and dark skyline. Camp ground has everything you need and priced right.
Mining opportunities are extremely expensive, but it's the experience you are buying, not a wealth of prescious gems. We found a lot of fun mini Opals, crystals and a whole lot of fresh air and sunshine.

This was our second visit to Royal Peacock. We love digging in the bank and poking through the tailings when our bodies need a stretch.
You pay to work but the harder you work, the better chance you have to find something priceless! We had a great time with the whole family digging away! We even brought Grandma!
Kelsey was super friendly and a great help with digging tips and making sure everyone was safe and wearing their hard hats.
We love this awesome treasure hunt. We had really good luck this trip and we will be returning for years to come!

The Rooms look nice. The bathrooms and showers were clean. Appeared to be cleaned frequently. We camped and it was a great spot. Beautiful views and the camping spot was comfortable and we could park right next to our tent. Had a picnic table and fire pit. We didn’t find much opal. It seemed slim pickings. One guy found a really nice piece but I believe this was rare. That being said we probably didn’t stay long enough to find anything good. They don’t do half days anymore so we paid for a full day and dug for 3 hours at the end of the day. We were also there close to the end of the season. The tools seemed to be in abundance and there was staff working close to us the entire time and would share the pieces they found. My girlfriend went the year before and she found a lot more in about the same amount of time. We did the bank dig but the good piece the kid found was in the tailings.

I had been wanting to go here for years and finally got a chance. It exceeded everything I had dreamed it would be. Jake and Cassie were so hospitable and knowledgeable. The campgrounds were well thought out and very well put together. Especially the showers and bathrooms. The stars at night, beautiful. The shop had everything I didn't know I needed "aka phenomenal jewelry, stellar rock displaying containers, tools, and of coarse opal specimens", and last but not remotely least the mine was 100% the coolest. You do put in some work, but everyone that came with us beginner to advanced collector got exactly what we had hoped to find. If you are thinking about going here. Do it, it was the most fun I have had in ages and I walked away with some world class mineral that will make any of my other rock hound friends jealous.
