This review does not cover the hotel side since we did not stay at this location. The casino is located on the north side of Highway 93 (Great Basin Highway) at the northeastern end of town. There is plenty of free parking around the area along with several electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Besides the casino, there is an authentic Native American shop near the hotel check-in station, selling a variety of Native American jewelry, clothing, and accessories and at a reasonable price compared to what you pay in Bluff, Utah or Monument Valley. The Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant can also be found inside the casino, and we loved our dinner there. In front of the hotel & casino is a small collection of interpretive sculptures and displays of the stagecoach’s, wagons and dinosaurs and the artificial lit trees at night are wonderful to look at. Overall, it is an interesting place to visit, shop, gamble and grab a bit to eat.

Clean rooms, Clean hallways, reasonable price and extremely pet friendly. The only downside to our room was it had a walk in shower instead of a tub. A small fee per pet but well worth it. Room had a dog bed ready for our pet. Treats and poop bag in the room. A large well groomed area with pickup bags and a trash can to walk your dogs. A leash is required, but that should be no big deal. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

We had a blast at the Prospector… dog friendly, fun lounge & casino, and great food at their restaurant! Our room had very comfy beds and the dogs enjoyed the complementary dog treats & dog bed. We will definitely be back. Also, it was packed with locals, and the locals always know the best spots in town. :)

I'm a long time loyal customer as I frequently travel through Ely. I have always called this hotel "the little hotel that trys harder". Unfortunately, on my last few visits the quality is slipping. I tried to turn a blind eye but on the last stay the issues could not be ignored. The rooms and bathrooms need a complete remodel. A face-lift is not enough at this point. They also changed their loyalty program to require direct reservations instead of through a booking app. This adds complications for the traveler. Also, I was not given a blank punch card after redeeming my free night. I was told I had to wait for my next booking. This seems small but now I don't have an incentive to come back. Since this hotel is the second most expensive hotel in Ely, I expect more quality or much lower prices. I am afraid after many years of loyalty, I will be staying elsewhere. I hope this information prompts some change at the hotel.

We are giving this hotel 5 stars, not in the traditional sense of luxury spa, which is not us. Normally we stay at branch hotels but recently have decided to change our ways, as too many brands are failing for their price tags. The Prospector made us happy we did. The hotel is clean and centrally located. The people are kind and the service is great. The rooms are dog friendly, yet do not appear to be, they are so well kept. The fee for your pet is $10 and there was a grassy area for the pets. The bathroom was spotless and the beds comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel as the wait was too long. We had a drink, that had to be searched out. Help in the bar area seemed scarce. The gift shop is filled with amazing trinket and gifts. Our only comment would be, a water bowl for dog in the room. we will stay again when passing through.
