We love Timber Creek Campground. But the road into the campground has gotten so bad that it is not worth staying there anymore.

Clean bathrooms and beautiful sites. I drive a Versa Note but I didn't have any problems really driving in.
PS: bathroom near campsite D get 2 bars of 4G so I was able to play Pikmin.

Went mid week very few people. Only 11 spots seems like FF would be doable.

From McGill, travel north on Highway 93 for 5 miles. Turn on State Route 486 and continue 8 miles on the paved road. Turn left on Forest Road 425, at the Timber Creek sign, and drive up the dirt road another 3 miles to the campground.
Timber Creek Campground is accessible via Highway 93, which is approximately 5 miles south of the campground. State Route 486 provides further access from Highway 93 to the campground.
Elevation: 2662 feet
31 mi drive to downtown Ely (about 47 min)
