High volume campground. Lots of vehicle traffic on dusty road. Lots of noise. Great place for drunks and stoners. Tent pads are damaged from storms and never repaired
No cell service, which is a real issue.
However, it is close to town.

Great campground hosts. nice shade shelter. Our site was convenient to the restroom and water. A little noise from people driving in the entry road, but other than that as good as you could expect.

A mixed bag. Amazing area as always, and the improved reservation system at the campground and canyon makes things easier than a few years ago. Be aware the campsite is always windy, not much to be done about that. But you can't get a better spot for the recreation opportunities, and it's amazingly dark and quiet for how close the city is.

This trip, we wondered about the dozens of folks obviously camping right along the main road despite numerous no camping signs. Kinda disincentivizes paying for a campground if there's going to be acceptable free camping within walking distance. That's not the campsite's problem, but it's something future guests may want to consider.

Campground-specific: the hosts were impossible to find. The reservation email is very clear that your site will be given away if you are not checked in, and we rearranged the first 2 days of our trip trying to catch the camp hosts at a time they would be in, since no one replied to our emails. This really, really sucked. Especially when then hosts eventually told us they would never give away a site...that also seems inefficient; shouldn't they let a walk in book an unclaimed site? Then on day 3, after we had finally been able to check in, they woke us up at dawn to tell us we needed a pass to hang on our mirror. When I replied, "what's wrong with the pass we have?" (the one they'd given us yesterday, hanging in plain view,) they said "oops, go back to sleep." Ughhh.

Also somebody stole our firewood....and put up a ridiculous amount of lights and played loud music in obvious violation of campsite policy.

So, campsite neighbors and host: 0/5 stars. Location: 5/5. Not our best trip to this site.

Love this campground. Well spaced out, vault toilets have night lights, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and firepits at every site and some have picnic table shelters.
