What Guests Are Saying
Crawford Notch Campground is praised for its beautiful location, large and private campsites, and access to trails and river views, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many visitors found the bathrooms and showers clean, and the general store adequately stocked. However, concerns about management practices, noise from the highway, and maintenance issues, particularly with the bathhouse and enforcement of camp rules, were noted as areas needing improvement.

It’s really too bad the way this place is so poorly managed. It’s a gorgeous location as long as you get a spot farther from the highway. But we have stayed here multiple times in different years, and there are some persistent issues that management could fix but truly doesn’t care to deal with. Because of this, we will never be back.
First, the bath house is poorly maintained. Hot water that you have to pay for is intermittent at best, and these are the most expensive coin-operated showers I’ve ever found. There are lights out that don’t get replaced, soap doesn’t get filled and there are no longer paper towels provided at all.
Second, the management does absolutely nothing to enforce quiet hours. Two years straight now we have been in proximity to a campsite full of loud drunken campers who chant and sing at the top of their lungs until 2am. We complained to management after the first incident and were reassured that they would deal with it - nothing was done, and the same problem persisted night after night.
Finally, the last time we were there, there was a state-wide burn ban due to fire risk. The campground management did not enforce the ban at all, and many folks had campfires despite the danger. We kept thinking, “Something bad is bound to happen.” And the next thing we know, there is a full-blown forest fire caused by someone leaving and not fully putting out their fire. A dozen fire trucks were called in to put it out, and management did nothing to warn anybody about the danger. They didn’t enforce the ban even after this incident. We were shocked at their negligence.

This is a gorgeous campground right off of route 302 near the Wiley House Historical site. During the weekend in fall this place is a mad house with Harley’s and traffic going up and down 302 for the fall leaves. The Harley’s echo through the valley all night. However, on Sunday things quieted down and made for a peaceful nights sleep. I’d still avoid the sites that are right up against the highway. It’s a busy road. Bathrooms were clean. General store was somewhat decently stocked. Didn’t get a chance to walk the trails since I hiked elsewhere. Felt safe as a solo traveler since there was gated entry to the campground. Campsite was private and couldn’t see my neighbors. Chemical toilets are port-a-potty. Potable water available throughout the site.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Toilets and showers were clean. Campsites were large. We heard some coyotes which was nice. The staff were friendly and polite. I would recommend for somebody looking to stay to have easy access to the white mountains etc. We will.be back at some point.

Beautiful campground with tent, RV, yurt and cabin sites. Nice trails and river access, some sites right on river. Scenic with mountain views, quiet, nature and wildlife close by. Private sites, nice campground store too. Been going for years, one of the best campgrounds in the White Mountains, close to many hiking trails and waterfalls!

It’s a shame because we loved our site and there were many other great sites but here were some things that we didn’t like:
Management wasn’t the friendliness at times, they close the gates for no re-entry 10pm-8am, the front camp sites are right along a busy road so you hear loud traffic a lot, camp wood was too pricey, and the biggest one, the bathrooms were horrible. Although cleaned, it was super humid due to horrible ventilation. The floors were always wet, I nearly slid around in my flip flops. They also take two hours to clean them, so there’s no other bathroom to use during that time which I think is too long. Lastly, I’d recommend going during the week, it was a lot more quiet and peaceful. One of our days was on the weekend and it was so busy and loud with neighbors and kids. Oh and you most likely will have to drive about 10 minutes for cell service fyi.
