What Guests Are Saying

Lake Francis State Park Campground is praised for its stunning beauty, cleanliness, and helpful staff, making it an excellent choice for camping, especially during the fall. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, with well-maintained facilities and a variety of activities like kayaking and bird watching. While some visitors noted an issue with invasive ladybugs and occasional noise from ATV traffic, the overall experience was highly positive, with many planning to return.

Great spot for camping and seeing fall colors. The staff were all amazing. My only complaint (and not the fault of the campground) is the number of invasive species lady bugs that made their way into the camper. As much as I loved the campground, not sure I would stay at this time of year again. I never want to deal with those lady bugs ever again.

I have to admit I was hesitant to camp here because it is an ATV Mecca and they are usually noisier campgrounds, the trails are usually rutted up and you don't see much wildlife, however this campground is probably the most beautiful campground that I have stayed in in all the time I've camped and I camp a lot! The staff was beyond helpful, so pleasant, so willing to ensure that you have the best time possible. The campground is extremely clean and the bathrooms are spotless-- Even the pit toilets are unbelievably clean! They take such pride in their Park. I did stay for a full week and it was really quiet at the beginning of the week. More traffic did come in Thursday, Friday and the boat launch area did get busy then. However, the campground still remained quiet and everybody seemed respectful. There was so much to do and so much to see in this beautiful area of the state. As much as I don't want to give this best kept secret away, I have to admit that this campground is spectacular. If you're coming in a larger RV or with a trailer, you want to stay on the main road almost all the way until you see the brown campground marker sign directing you in towards the campground. GPS will divert you to some rough, rutted dirt side roads to access. If you're unsure, call the campground office. They will direct you to this best route in.

Prettiest campsite ever right on the lake!! The cleanest restrooms and showers ever for a state park and we have crossed the country 8 times. Super nice and helpful staff. We will definitely be reserving for next year. Plus ... The colorful foliage was spectacular!!

One of the best non-crowded camping πŸ•οΈ sites with only a few sites. Book in advance on the government website. Walk-in’s are allowed provided there is availability. Pets are allowed. Personal kayaks are allowed.

Kayaks and canoe can be rented for 15$ per hour until 4pm.

Beautiful sites, opt for lake front campsites in fall.
Call reception network is available on the water too near the campsites.
Good for Water bird watching.

Not many kids were there, mostly adults were there who were all fishing enthusiasts.

Spent 5 nights tent camping and absolutely loved it! Kayaking on the lake was fun and hiking the trail along the river was peaceful! Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily and were very tidy! Showers are coin operated with impressive water pressure! Nice sink to do camp dishes as well. There are ATV trails here as well but something we did not do. Can't wait to camp here again!
