What Guests Are Saying

Acorn Campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and friendly park staff, making it a great spot for families and group camping. Visitors appreciate the beautiful lake views, flat campsites, and enjoyable activities such as fishing and paddleboarding. However, some have noted issues with noise levels, restroom maintenance, and the reservation system, which can lead to underused spots.

The site is well maintained, but visitors don’t take care of the lake shore; there’s a fair amount of trash. It’s also a bit noisy when full, with not a lot of trees to block sound, if you want a quiet time camping go elsewhere.

Lovely campground would definitely do it again. However, must be cautious of the reservation system. It’s very frustrating and allows tons of under used camping spots. There’s only a volunteer they’re organizing and cleaning. So on the reservation site, it says all of the spots are filled, but the campground is largely empty.

We have been coming to New hogans for 36 years. This year is a little better than the last two. But the bathrooms really need to be redone and tile in the showers fixed. Really miss the fish cleaning stations also! Not enough presents of rangers and noticing a lot of homeless in the area.

This was our first time at Acron Campground and we all really liked the site. Plan on returning back next year. We stayed at site 16 from Sunday July 19th to Tuesday July 21st. The space fit our 10 person tent and 6 person tent just fine, but in total it was 4 adults and 2 kids only. The site had decent shade so we weren't always directly under the sun, plus we had to canopies so that helped to. One thing to keep in mind the spaces are really close together and no real way to know where your space ends. It was empty during our time there, but on a full day can be a little tricky I assume. Bathroom & shower was clean, even saw the cleaning crew that Monday morning washing the bathrooms so that was a plus for me. Water level was really low and rocky so you will definitely need water shoes. Since the water was low the shore was really muddy right before getting into the water. We just have to time it better next year to go out there when the water is higher. We also had a great encounter with one the ranger when we first got there, believe his name was Eric and he was really nice and helpful in answering our questions.

I had a wonderful time relaxing with the lake in the background, cooking food and having fires in the fire ring at night. Good spot on the beach to have my paddleboard and popup setup and plenty of room and shade for my tent at the campsite. I can’t wait to come back next year.

Went up on a Sunday to Tuesday. Great campsite. Clean. Park rangers were great people. Bathrooms are clean and up-kept. Will be back for sure.
