Camp Gateway at Sandy Hook offers a beautiful and well-maintained campground with various activities, including hiking, biking, and fishing. Visitors appreciate the helpful rangers, clean facilities, and proximity to the beach and bay. While some noted minor inconveniences like limited parking and a lack of showers, the overall experience is positive, with many eager to return.

I love this park so much and had a great time with friends. The rangers are so friendly and helpful and I felt very safe and in good hands. Gage and Patrick offered to move my site to somewhere more shady and private. Overall a great experience<3

Love this campground and I try to use it several times a year. Great staff, really very helpful. Really appreciate having the little wheelbarrows, thank you for providing it. Also, they provide big metal boxes to lock your things up, so bring a combination lock and you'll be good to go. I wish other places provided this, excellent idea.
If you're new to this campsite keep in mind you park away from your site and have to tote your things from your vehicle to your site. Water is available but again you may have to carry it from the spigots to your site, I bring an extra container for washing hands, etc. The whole park has a lot of deer and therefore ticks, so take precautions and check your kids prior to bedding down! I come from Long Island and love it here, well worth the trip. Camping, biking, birding, fishing and lots for the military history nerds. One of the best beaches in the Northeast.
