The campground hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The grounds and the restrooms are well kept and the campground was quiet. Our young grandchildren loved the playground. Our only problem was the weather. We had high gusty winds and our son's family was in a pop-up camper, so sleep was difficult for them (we had no issues in our camper van). We took a day trip to Bandalier and that was wonderful. Would recommend you start early in the day before it gets hot.

This was my first Core of Engineers camp visit. Had high expectations. Spaces were too close together in the non electrical area, ok in the full hook up area.
No way that I could find to get to the water, seemed crazy to me that you could not walk to the water. No good trail information , the brochure did not really give much detail.
Would not go back there. No shade in most sites.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and this place is always a splendor to experience. The lake, the sky, the sunsets, the views, and of course the Pedernal. The hosts are warm, friendly and professional. My campsite was clean, the restrooms were spotless and cleaned regularly. What I most appreciate is how the COE manages their campgrounds. Security patrols regularly, you never need to worry about those late-night drinking parties and other issues that other campgrounds are besieged with. The best campsites include both electric and non-electric and even walk-up tent sites. There are sites for every taste. I camped here right after the Memorial Day weekend and even though the campground was fairly full, it didn't feel that was as all was quiet. I will be back.
